Pillai College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Choudhary Kundan

It is one of the best engineering colleges in Navi Mumbai area it is also graded as A+ by NAAC. My reason for selecting this college was that it is an autonomous college, also the college offers various specialisations such as cyber security, data science, IOT, etc. and my interest in cyber security made me interested in this college. The college has industry relevant curriculum which helps us become future ready. I will recommend this college to those students who want to select specialisation subject and also want to take advantage of an autonomous college.

The course contains all the necessary subjects to train students for their dream jobs. There are 5-6 subjects per semester. Three exams are conducted per semester; 2 internal assessment and 1 end semester exam. The marking scheme is generally 40 for the IA and 60 for end semester; some subjects also have viva and practical exams. The eligibility for college is 60% marks in 12th boards and MHT-CET exam. The cutoff for CET for Computer Engineering is around 91 percentile. For Information Technology, it’s around 89 percentile. Students who are interested in pursuing engineering from computer science, IT, mechanical, EXTC, and ECS can apply.

Majority of the teaching staff has Ph.D degree and some of them are also doing research currently. The teaching style of all the teachers is unique but all of them are effective. They try to teach with practical examples so that students can completely understand the topic and they are also very supportive towards students in academics as well as extracurricular activities. Students can also work on projects along with teachers who guide them through the project and help them bring their idea to life. Non teaching staff is also very helpful.

Our college has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell which helps students get industry ready and secure jobs in some of the prestige companies. The Placement Cell approaches many companies to give students the highest chance of securing jobs. The placement season starts from 7th semester and is active for the whole year. Also, the placement cell offers compulsory internships to students in the VIII semester. The average salary range is around 4 LPA with highest being around 12 LPA.

The college has a hostel which is situated a few kilometers away from the college but college provides transport services to hostel students. Students can opt to stay in double shared or triple shared rooms. The rooms are well furnished. The hostel also has a mess which serves students snacks, lunch, and dinner; the quality of the food is above average. The hostel is affordable for students and has various facilities like indoor games, common area, Wi-Fi, and gym. The rooms are also very spacious and comfortable and cleanliness is also maintained in the hostel.

The college infrastructure is great with blocks being named after the flowers such as rose wing, lotus wing, etc. The college has a huge library with a very large collection of books for both students and faculty. The college also has component library for IOT components. There are many labs in the college for every branch. The computer labs have updated systems while the labs of mechanical and EXTC have modern machines. The college also has GMY, playground, dedicated basketball court, indoor tennis court, and football ground. The canteen in the college is also hygienic and affordable and has a large menu to select from.

The campus life of college is very good. The college has many fests and events throughout the year. The major attraction of college is Alegria; it is the annual fest of the college that lasts for almost a week and has many surprises for students with famous artists and Bollywood stars performing on the stage for different events. The college also has a cultural week in which students have lots of fun. The college also conducts sports week, technical events, and various competitions. There are many clubs in the college for students to take part in such as CSI (computer society), Rangmanch (Drama club), Benchmark (Music club), IEEE, etc.
