National Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Deepak Swami

An excellent GATE score is required for admission to M.Tech. NITW is one of the best NITs in the country. Among the best things about the college, I will start with its infrastructure. Fountain gardens, pollution-free, and great scenic beauty made the campus so beautiful place to live in. Above all it’s the faculty that makes or breaks a college, and NIT Warangal faculty were not just experts but fully dedicated as well. There are many notable alumni from NITW who have not done well in corporate life but have become great politicians like S.P.Y. Reddy, and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, among others. The list of actors is even bigger and all this has been possible because college has societies for every field beyond academics. One can choose societies of their choice and college has enough events to give students the opportunity to showcase all their talent. Among guests, the college has had notable personalities and one such were our ex-president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. As per NIRF rankings, the college is among the top 10 engineering colleges of the country.

Life at NITW, or for that matter, any NITs is tough. One has to fight battle on regular basis to survive. First of all, North Indian students have to work even harder as though there is no partiality, but students with southern accents can understand the teaching better because North and South are literally poles apart not just in terms of food but also in teaching. There’s no mediocrity existence in NITW, and one has to be above par always otherwise, the professors are strict and will make you write the same exam multiple times. One can be cursed while living here for 2 years, but they will thank NITW for the rest of their lives because South is the place where one can make a career in the IT industry and admission to NIT will solve all their woes in two years to not just make them industry ready but also make them ready to fall in love with South India and their people.

One of the strictest that I have seen, the professors are available in bulk at NITW. At NITW, there are 2 professors for each subject as one with hordes of teaching experience while one his junior who will assist him in practicals. Importantly all the professors were more than capable of teaching and all that we couldn’t in our graduation days will be covered up as professors are ever ready for extra classes or doubts solving sessions. Never seen such dedicated people in my life. If the professors of NITW were not teachers, they would have surely been corporate leaders.

One can debate that NIT Warangal Placement is not 100 percent, but students can only blame themselves if they don’t get placed from NITW. Students who pass in first attempt will always have the upper hand, and companies that visit NITW for placements are needless to mention. Not just domestic but many international IT companies have been more than happy to have a shot at NITW, M.Tech students. The average placements were as high as 10 lakhs per annum, and NIT Warangal Highest Package received by the ones who got inked by international companies have been able to garner a package of over 30 lakhs per annum.

If mega can be termed with hostels, then the NIT Warangal Hostel should be called mega hostels. The main hostel had over 1000 rooms filled with filth, as the myth that engineers smoke the most is unfortunately very true. North has been infamous for smoking, but one should check colleges in south. One small factory can’t cater for the cigarette demands of colleges of 1 city. The food too was not something that I could eat and I lost 7 kgs in the course of 2 years. South Indian students or the students those have craving or liking for authentic south Indian food were more than happy with the food.

Can anyone imagine the area of NITW? NIT Warangal campus area is 256 acres and has been revamped with all the latest facilities off late. The main building is still the same, but the central library building that was updated during my time looks great from outside and now has over 100k books in its stock. There are 3 canteens at the campus, one is staff canteen and rest two for students. Canteen again had only south Indian dishes and the only thing that was meant for me at the canteen was cold drink. College’s auditorium as not just large but I had goosebumps whenever I was there for attending a guest lecture or witnessing some of the finest talents perform during the fests. Sporting facilities are as great as anything. Like Olympics, NIT too has a hosting cycle. NITW hosts sports competitions among NITs almost every 6-7 years as it has one of the best sporting infrastructures among Indian colleges or universities.

I was just calculating the number of fests every year and excuse me if I forgotten some but there were 9 in my counting. Out of those 9, the ones I participated were the technical fest called Technozion, culture fest called SpringSpree, and interbranch competition fest known as Zero Gravity. One can learn as much as they want as NITW has some wise people and a kingdom of knowledge that is so wide that one can’t travel all miles in one lifetime.
