A Transformative Journey : My Experience at NIT Calicut

Overall Rating
My overall experience at this place is somewhere between moderate and good. the natural beauty of the campus I think is the most unique than any other college in India, because here are so many coconut trees and greenery which gives you a very natural feeling whenever you visit for a walk in early morning. And there are many places to visit that are why many people come to Kerala on trips. And this institute comes under the top 4 in terms of placements as well.
 

Academics Rating
For getting admission here, you need to get a good rank in JEE Mains and for specialization and placement you can prioritize it during JOSSA counseling according to your research and priority. My rank was around 22000 then I got Engineering in Mechanical Engineering here. Rather than prioritizing college reputation you should focus on the stream which you will choose in future and for that you need to explore different branches of the B.Tech program.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty is very good and understanding and they will not scold you if you ask you doubts. You can also ask your doubts even after the class. For any type of guidance you are free to ask any faculty available. Even once I met to my HOD he said that you can take help of any faculty freely and if they deny then you can complain about them.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a placement cell CCD (Center For Carrier Development) where coding completions, debates, group discussions and interview preparations are carried out. And it’s very helpful in your soft skills development and in making you job ready.
 

Hostel Rating
There are 11 hostels for 1st, 4th year B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D, and MBA students. For 2nd and 3rd year students 2 mega boys hostel and 1 mega ladies hostel is there. In every hostel there is a mess and most of the messes follow different menus and you can change your mess every month. There are table tennis, common room, TV room, study room, carom, chess, cricket net, badminton court net, volleyball, basketball court, Xerox, etc. in most of the hostels.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are two big academic blocks (A and B) for all academic activities. Two grounds for football and cricket are there in the campus. There are volleyball courts, basketball courts, open air theater, auditorium, central computer center, robo labs, and workshops along with different academic buildings. A huge library, computer labs and different study spots are also there in the college. And there are 3 floors filled with book stacks which are in millions and for any book you can find its location through available computers.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is very good. You can talk to people from different states with different culture. There are two main events that are organised in the college every year, one is the tech fest Tathva that is organised in every November and other is cultural fest Ragam that is organised in March.

    I recently completed my first year in NIT Calicut and I can say that my first year was perfect. You can get admission in NIT Calicut through JOSAA counselling if you have good rank in all India JEE examination. First year was full of enjoyment as academically there is not so much pressure.     I joined NIT Calicut after securing my admission through JOSAA after scoring good marks in examination. I chose this institute since it is near to my home. The campus is so beautiful and every now and then, there is a program in the institute, which I think, does not happen in most institutes.     I chose Electronic and Communication Engineering. I chose this branch as it is in 5th in rank among all the other NITs. The campus life in is so good. Even though we have so much work, life here is very good and calm. You will never regret choosing this one.
