Hindu College is one of the best and when I say best, I mean it. Moving on, I will take you back to my orientation day. Hindu college has a rule wherein during the first week of the college, students and teachers had to introduce themselves to each other. If you start your introduction in Hindu, every single line that you speak has to be in Hindi then. Likewise, if you do it in English, every single word and line has to be in English then. If you chop and change words, you will have to start it all over again. If I could remember that correctly it took 4 takes for me to get that right. There were some who also gave up and that set the template right up there. Fun is what one expects from DU colleges and Hindu college though a little serious at times was still allowed complete freedom to their students. I was pretty much satisfied with what I learned and achieved as a student at Hindu College.
Because they take only the top students one might feel that they must be more than brilliant in academics. Well, I been to few more colleges and one thing that I can say is that at DU you better be carefree with studies but can’t be careless at the same time. The classes were always on time and students had to rush in as the faculty do take note of the attendance. You do get some leverage if you are associated with some clubs but twinning with seniors is the biggest advantage. Just make seniors your friends as they will help you out not just with studies but any attendance issue or anything else that comes your way.
Sharp for sure because they would keep a vulture’s eye on students. If students bunking the college and having fun outside during college hours, you will be paying heavily. Just impress the faculty with all the skills that you have along with studies for sure. If by chance the university topper or the top three are not from Hindu College, the faculty would tie their belly even harder and guess who are at the receiving end, it’s the students. Just be in happy space with the faculty and they will be all yours and help you with all that you need.
If namesake is the word, then I will probably put that because the placements were in a sense quite poor. We were given the form and the placement cell department even spent weeks on us to know which field we can contribute. All this was just for raising our hopes as the placements were not even half. B. Com (Hons) of Delhi University is renowned all over the country and so is the Hindu College. However, in terms of placements they have literally nothing special to offer when it comes to placements.
There’s a boy’s hostel inside the campus. The hostel is located at the backyard of the campus and there’s a small ground at the hostel. Hostel have strict rules in place but students who stay at the hostel consider themselves as a goon and do all that they want. The hostel has their own election to choose secretary and mess contractor. I never stayed there but the boys who stayed there would always speak about the fun that they do at the hostel. The hostel is strictly for the students who don’t have a Delhi domicile.
The college is quite big and close to it are many other colleges of DU. St. Stephens College is right opposite Hindu College and Miranda House College is also nearby. The college has nearly 10 blocks as each departments block was separate and a three block were reserved for club activities. The college’s parliament and auditorium blocks were block G and block E. Those were the busiest blocks as every time you will find majority of the students over there. The college canteen was average but who cares when we had Kebab Factory and Omleterian restaurants close to the college. The best feature of the entire infrastructure was its sports ground and indoor sports stadium. They were high class and you will see many aspiring and established athletes practicing at the college’s facilities. Thus, infrastructure of the Hindu College will have thumbs up from even the critical critics.
If one thinks that college is just for studying and getting the degree then they should aim for the Hindu College. Your like will change upside down as college life and especially grad years are those when you have a better self-realization. What’s next in the store for you and how should proceed with your life further. I had no idea what am I going to do next but Hindu College showed me the way and that is exactly what I did.
An answer to the question of how is the college overall is subjective. Basically, it depends on what an individual is looking in a college. The faculty was too good and we got excellent exposure in the college. Every now and then the college organizes seminars, internship programs and project work. Commerce department of the college is again excellent from academic view. The crowd of B.Com though is hard to find as many students from UP Board and Bihar Board is what you will find sitting next to... Read Full Review
There's a road that divides St. Stephens College and Hindu College. Both are the top colleges of Delhi, and the competition is therefore consistently very high. If they produce a topper in a particular year, Hindu has to do it the following year. College's environment had a huge impact on our progress. I did my graduation from Sri Venkateswara College, South campus, and for PG, I came to the North campus. North Campus has its perks, and Hindu is again one of the best colleges of DU. Not many DU colleges offer M.Sc programs, and Chemistry being my preferred subject, Hindu was among just the few options that I had. Hindu was in my plan B initially, but after studying here, all I can say is, I did the right thing. The college has a long history from being affiliated with Punjab University to comi...
