My experience at Manipal Institute of Technology has been transformative and adventurous, if I were to put it in words. I chose this college, well to be honest, because it was the best I could get at that time with my qualifications. But, I am happy that I did come here. I came here as a fresher in Mechanical Engineering, from which I switched to Electrical and Electronics later. The best thing about this institute is the existence of students’ projects, where you can gain practical knowledge as opposed to the theoretical knowledge provided.

All students study the same subjects in our first year, irrespective of branches. The whole batch is split into two cycles; Physics and Chemistry. The first-year subjects cover basic subjects from almost all branches, ranging from Computer Science to Biomedical Science. Most of the subjects are pretty easy to grasp and score (scoring high in the first year makes life easy for later). The second year is when branch-specific academics begin. My own branch has all kinds of professors, ranging from excellent to mediocre. There are a lot of professors who willingly take students under their guidance to work on different projects or collaborate for research. Overall, the electrical branch of my college is pretty good.

There are all kinds of professors on campus, from excellent to mediocre. Most of them are friendly and are open to entertaining doubts and are helpful. One can do projects, and publish research papers with them. They also provide Letter of Recommendations and also recommend students for internships. All in all, the college has very good faculty.

I am currently in the middle of placement, and there are a lot of companies that come for the same. In the Electrical and Electronics branch, one can sit for placements in core, IT and Management roles as well. The students are eligible to sit for placements in almost all the companies. The median placement is about 8 LPA, which is pretty decent. Overall, there are lots of career options for students here.

The hostels are excellent here. They are one of the best across the country, and feel very home-like. Overall, the best hostels you can get in India for sure.

The campus is over 300 acres big, and is very well built. It has its own playground, hostels, and has a lot of diversity. The student plaza is at the centre of the campus and is one of the most usual hangout spots on the campus.

The campus life is one of the most vibrant in the country. There are two fests in the year, and just outside the campus there are clubs and restaurants to hangout in. Overall, the city is very happening as there are students from various colleges. Campus life is certainly something to look forward to when one studies here. A lot of fun activities to do here, which keeps one from getting bored.
