NIT Silchar: One of the best institutes

Overall Rating
NIT Silchar is a very beautiful institute. It covers an area of over 600 acres. It is situated in Silchar, Assam. I have gained experience in many things and learned many things after studying here. The surrounding is good and clean. Seniors maintain a friendly relationship with the juniors and teachers are also quite friendly here.
 

Academics Rating
We have classes for five days a week, meaning there are no classes in weekends. We have classes from morning till evening. Lab classes are three hours long and students are advised not to miss them. We have a mid-semester, end semester, a minor exam and class tests/attendance which all sum up to 100 marks. 75% attendance is compulsory to give end-semester exams. Exams are quite okay and the marking system is also good. On average we have a friendly academic culture.
 

Faculty Rating
All the faculty members of the institute live in the institute campus. They have their own quarters. Teaching faculty is Ph.D or Masters qualified and non-teaching faculty like lab assistants are Bachelors qualified. Professors here maintain a diplomatic relation with the students. They help the students only if they want to.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls separately of all the years.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure here is good. We have separate buildings for each department. The classrooms, roads and services are okay. All the essential things are available within two minutes of walking distance. There are many trees and lakes. We have sports complex, football ground, cricket ground, tennis court, court for basketball, badminton court, etc. We also have a gym.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life is good. We have too many clubs ranging from technical to non-technical ones. We have music, dancing, coding, ML, literature, GDSC, space, quiz and many more clubs. All these clubs conducts many events and functions. Apart from clubs there are branch societies which too organize many events. There are three institute fests, one technical, one cultural and one about the Assamese festival Posua. We enjoy a lot in these events.

    NIT Silchar is a good institute. I joined this institute through CSAB counseling. I selected this institute because of its placement record. This institute has better placement percentage than any other tier 2 institutes especially in core branches. Campus life of this institute also attracted me.     My 1st semester is passed and now I am in second semester of my first year. My overall experience of my first semester is average as few things are hectic. I got make some good and bad friends. Factor that made me choose this institute is that it lies in the northeast region of India and I wanted to experience its beauty.     I am a student at NIT Silchar pursuing B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering. Overall my experience in NIT Silchar is good. I have made lots of friends here. The reason I choose NIT Silchar is that it is very close to my home town i.e. just 8 hours and the NIRF ranking is also good.     The overall experience in NIT Silchar is not bad. I chose this Institute because it has the sports facilities and it is in my interest. The natural environment is appreciable. The placement is also decent. In NIT Silchar, ragging is strictly prohibited which lacks in many Institutes. The clubs and societies are very active helping students to showcase their talent.     National Institute of Technology, Silchar has one of the most beautiful and lush green campus across all NIT's in India. Infrastructure, faculty, facilities, academics, and classrooms are very well maintained. There is the campus of 625 acres with many different things around the whole institute.
