Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Alok Yadav

For me personally PCCOE was one of the best engineering colleges in Pune that I have seen. There are many other engineering colleges in Pune like COEP, MIT WPU Faculty of Engineering, and Symbiosis Institute of Technology among other. There are pros and pros but few cons like the college is like a school where the discipline of certain level has to be maintained. Probably the only college in Pune which has made sure that 75% attendance is must. The college is not among the top ranked colleges in Pune but in India as well. The college is perhaps a chocolate box as there are n numbers of pros attached like; you are most likely to get placed through campus. I don’t know should I call it a pro or con but you will have to spend a lot of time in college and that might put you in stress. You will be doing numerous assignments; I agree some of them were crap. You will definitely miss the college once you leave. Last but not the least; you will be completely disciplined after you leave the college.

The institute is outstood with various milestones not just in academics but in extracurricular activities as well. For syllabus and exams, it follows the IIT kind of pattern. The classes are closely connected with practicals. All in all, you will develop and conceptualize various engineering concepts that is must for engineering students. The academic system infuses curiosity, creativity, and most importantly the college ingrains a sense of confidence. You will be able to implement and explore many scientific ideas while studying at the college. I think I have boasted enough about the academics but all that I have said is absolutely true.

Undoubtedly the best professors have been hired and it’s because of them attendance of almost 100% is seen in almost all the lectures. Not all are PhD holders but some professors along with teaching are seeking for it. The faculty makes sure that maximum students are placed and that too with fancy salaries. For those who want to study further the professors guide them the best. From the first semester itself the professors teach us in a manner that we all are industry ready. No special training for placement is required as the professors themselves teach us in a way that cracking interview looks like a stroll in the park.

Placement coordinators of PCCOE are the best as they don’t just assist you but in my case, they helped me thoroughly to get placed. The college’s placement cell is completely dedicated. It was the placement cell that helped us apply our theoretical knowledge into a practical experience. The placement drive was conducted ever so smoothly. For all those like me who were preparing for the GATE examinations were also asked to appear for the interview so that we will be experienced in how to appear for the placements. My PCCOE experience helped a lot during placements after M.Tech. Pune has become an IT hub and companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro have always hired students from our institute by paying fancy salaries. Average salary of our batch was 6 LPA and because it has been 5 years since I passed out, I am sure it would have increased to 7 or 8 LPA by now.

There’s one old boys and one new boys hostel inside the campus. The new hostel is for the students of 1st and 2nd year and from third year, we were shifted to old hostel. Both the hostels have two seater and three seater rooms. The capacity of the boys’ hostel was around 300 students and was always full. There’s also a girls hostel inside the campus. The hostel was really nice and the mess food was also favorable to most. The food used to be little spicy as Maharashtrian taste is little spicy and therefore few students always used to have complaints in that regard.

The college is quite big and is close to Aakurdi railways station. The college has a central and newly built digital library. There’s also a reading hall in the college which is open for hostellers 24*7. The college has a huge playground and students play football most of the time. For running a running track is also made. I personally used that track almost every single day as running de-stresses me. There are two big computer labs and labs for all the engineering departments. The infrastructure on the whole is amazing.

There are like 40 to 50 clubs and one of them was an innovative club. It was mostly for those who had ideas and college has funded many of those ideas. The technical fest of the college was attended by students of almost all the engineering colleges students and even they were surprised to see the talent that students of PCCOE possess. Campus life was great and for me as an outsider, felt like home at the campus.
