IIT BHU, Varanasi is overall in the top 10 engineering institutes of India, and ranks in 5th in terms of placement. It has one of the best alumni network across the world. You will get all opportunities inside the institute. No matter where your talent and interest lies, you will be able to explore it. There are different societies for every event.

Academics in IIT BHU, Varanasi is just in accordance to other IITs. You will have some compulsory subjects, some optional ones and labs too. Pressure is average on normal day, but during exams you will definitely face pressure. There is huge pressure to maintain 75% attendance. Questions in semester exams are generally asked from class notes, so it's important that you follow the classes properly.

When it comes to faculty there are qualified professors who have done PhD from top institutes of India and abroad. All of them are good researchers. Some faculties have taught in developed nations like Japan, Australia, etc.

IIT BHU has a placement percentage of more than 80 with highest salary of 90 LPA, lowest salary of 6.5 LPA and average salary stood at around 25 LPA. You will get plenty of opportunities from here, so no need to worry about placements, just build up skills.

IIT BHU, Varanasi was established in 1919 in the name of Banaras Engineering Institute. So all the hostels are old. So you shouldn't expect much fancy rooms. All the old hostels have volley ball and badminton courts. But once it comes to 1st year students (both B.Tech and M.Tech), they will get the most modern hostel (named PC Ray). This is newly constructed this year only and has 10 floors with neat and fancy rooms.

Main building of IIT BHU holds a legacy. It is an Engineering marvel. Every road in IIT is connected with each other and is well planned, so even if you take the wrong road you will somehow land up to your destination (XD). The old classrooms don’t have ACs but some of them have. It has a Student Activity Centre (SAC) which contains all the indoor games (TT, Badminton, Gym, Squash, Boxing, Karate, Yoga, etc.). SAC has centralized AC. Apart from indoor games; it has 3 grounds for outdoor sports like lawn tennis, football, hockey, and cricket. It has a library with almost every technical book, journals, etc. that you want to read, it does have novels as well. Beside the library, we have a reading library which is fully air conditioned, and remains open from early morning to midnight.

Overall I would say that campus life in IIT BHU is wholesome. It celebrates every festival in a grand way (so you won't miss your state festivals like Janmashtmi, Diwali, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc). The campus life is peaceful, just the only drawback it has that it is not a closed campus. Outsiders can come inside, so women safety remains an issue, although the security system is very good and they guard the campus very cautiously. It even has emergency numbers for women, it runs emergency car for girls. But the reason for the open campus is because hospitals, schools are situated inside BHU. So people access them. But overall, it's a very wonderful campus and you will surely enjoy once you take admission here.
