FORE School of Management PGDM Review By Rakesh Madhiwala

Once you study in Delhi, you will never be able to leave the city as the city is so addictive. Yes, we ate pollution more than the food, got stuck in the traffic, had brawls but amid all the chaos, Delhi is where my heart belongs. I looked for all the B-Schools in the region and after IMT Ghaziabad, and FMS Delhi, the third best B-School in Delhi is FORE. FMS, and IMT were my first choice but because I couldn’t make it, I took FORE. XAT, CAT, and GMAT, all three scores are taken and a percentile of 90 in XAT will help you book your seat here. The college operates with very few students and that is why one can see the quality of students the college has produced over the years.

There is something about Delhi, that they will always choose an odd timing for the college. Hansraj College classes would begin at 8.40 and at FORE the classes started at 9.10. Just three to four lectures a day and we were done with the classes. The evening sessions were generally debate sessions or conferences. In Management Studies, the thought process is important and we were given virtual situations and ask to deal with it. The student interaction in those sessions was just like corporate meetings. Many experts were called upon to give their feedback and judge students about their point of views. I have never imagined such kind of learning but this is how management studies are done.

The professors were not time bound as they will leave the campus once they are done with the lectures. You can enter the staff room and have discussions with the faculty. The faculty would invite pitches from students on various topics. Faculty gave student the confidence and in return they got students trust. Thus, the symbiotic relation between the professors and the students worked really well as most of the students of FORE are doing well for themselves in life.

The total fees paid was Rs. 12 Lakhs and the average placement of our batch was over 8 lakhs. Thus, the ROI was superb as one can get their investment back in 14-15 months. This is the average that I am talking about as some students, even had placements worth 20-25 lakhs. There were many companies from banks to auto to FMCG. Tata Motors was going through a rough phase then and they chose 10-15 students from out batch to be a part of their organization. They even sent some of the student to their UK branch and therefore they were the ones who offered the highest package during our batch. Some students even decided to become an entrepreneur and are today very successful with their start-ups. The college fully supported such students and also shared their network of investors. Along with placements, this was an add-on from the college’s end.

The campus was quite tiny and therefore the college had rented a building far from the college and converted that into a co-ed hostel. After already spending four years at the hostel, I thought of living an independent life where I wanted to be free to roam around in Delhi for as long as I wanted. The college was in South Delhi and areas like Vasant Kunj, and Shahpurjat has many luxurious Paying Guests. I stayed in one of those and the college was just a mile away from my place. The hostel from what I know was great as the rooms and the food both were amazing.

Many called FORE as the smallest college that they have seen but in Delhi there are many colleges that has just a building in name of the college campus. The building though was not short of any facilities as it had one of the best computer centres (Computer Labs). A conference room where all our discussions happened and a small but nice auditorium. There’s also a canteen but that may put a hole in your pocket as it was quite expensive. South Delhi anyways is so never mind. There’s just a small basketball court in the campus but it was just for namesake because it was more of a student area. So, it’s safe to say that college didn’t have any outdoor sporting facilities but had a nice indoor sports room. Those who are interested in sports like chess and table tennis the college sports room was nothing less than an Olympic competition. Students would cheer for their favorites and one can see the rush of blood going on while playing.

The campus life at FORE was beyond my imagination. Students with so much of ideas have entered the college. The clarity among the student was amazing and that spread the positivity all around. All students were unique and from different parts of the country. Some foreigners too became our classmate as the college runs a foreign exchange program. Taking students to Singapore for an industrial and education tour was also a part of college’s activities. Campus life in DU is incomplete without the fest. Before the 6th trimester of the first year, couple of days were spared free by the management so that student can have their fest. It was completely managed and organized by the students as they were given complete liberty. The life at FORE may not be as happening as what I had at Hansraj but certainly a more career oriented one.
