Lady Shri Ram College for Women is the one of the coziest yet bustling place one can find in Delhi University. Being a student here makes me realize how much commitment towards work and academics people can have. It’s truly fascinating to see young women trying to navigate through life and create an identity for themselves. LSR doesn’t stop for anyone. People are hustling and prioritizing their decisions. This college gives a really wholesome experience as it can make you feel drained by continuous work but at the same time, it can also make you feel energetic through little music jam session during the lunch break. In LSR, commitment is everything whether it’s for your society, club or department. I chose this college for its best placements and amazing faculty. So if you’re ready to go on a journey of ups and downs, come onboard.

Admissions in Lady Shri Ram College for Women take place via CUET exam conducted by UGC which can be given after the completion of HSC. My course is BA (Hons.) in Economics, which requires Mathematics as a compulsory subject to be studied till 12th grade. If a person hasn’t studied Mathematics in their 12th grade, they are not eligible for this course. If you’re from Science background and had Mathematics, you are still eligible for this course. Make sure to check Delhi University’s eligibility criteria before applying for the course. BA (Hons.) in Economics provide wide array of career paths which is why this degree is highest in demand. It can help you get employment in the corporate as well as government sector. It basically lets to sharpen your analytical skills the best. Overall, this course is very inclined towards Mathematics and Statistics.

The faculty in LSR is truly amazing. Here teachers are genuinely passionate about their subjects and are well versed with the career paths that can be pursued after this degree while being really considerate. However, not all the teachers are considerate and extra ordinary at teaching but you can always find teachers who are amazing at their job. You find three core subjects in this course: Mathematics, Statistics and Microeconomics for the first semester. The faculty teaches while clearing the doubts and taking quizzes in the tutorial periods. They will touch the upper surface of every topic in lecture and while you read the topics yourself and get doubts, they clear them in tutorials while diving deeper into the topics.

LSR has Pcell (placement cell) which helps students in getting internships and profile building, which helps them get enrolled in internships. These internships can even provide stipends and enhancing the experience. The placement here ranges from companies like Deloitte to McKinsey. The highest package of DU was also grabbed by a student of this college. However that’s like 1% student of the class. Still the continuous involvement of students in different speaker sessions, competitions, societies, clubs, department projects and compulsion to choose between NSO, NSS and NCC helps them in creating a really amazing profile. In order to sit for placements, you need to have a good CGPA no matter what society you’re a part of, a good CGPA is a pre-requisite while the society or club work is just an add on to it.

The residential facilities in the college have been closed for the students from last 2 years due to renovations work. Otherwise, the location and building of hostel seems decent. Since the hostel is inside the campus, it may be opened for the upcoming batches in future and have ACs. Although no information has been given regarding re-opening in any of the platforms. While it’s closed for now, students here find their accommodation in PGs and rental flats in nearby areas including areas like national park, Amar Colony and Kailash colony.

The campus has a lot of greenery along with really nice infrastructure. It mainly involves the old building, new building, auditorium, canteen, Nescafe, resource room, open gym, basketball court, lawn tennis court, amphitheater, Hostel (closed for now), Library, Gazzebos (common area) and Exhibition halls (area for performing arts practices). The infrastructure isn’t of IIT level but way better than most of the DU colleges, even though the only place you will find AC is the reference room and library. New building has really nice ventilation and big windows. The campus isn’t really huge but it’s a nice and cozy place with really beautiful lawns and lots of squirrels.

The campus life here is really hectic and wholesome as there are 5 things going on at the same time and you need to prioritize where to go. Every society conducts speaker sessions, events and social drives. People here are busy but extremely helpful and they don’t really judge if you can’t figure out anything. You are assigned mentor who can help you navigate college life. ‘Tarang’ is an annual fest of LSR which is considered one of the best if DU. It is a 3 day fest which has stalls, activities, events, music and one the last day even outsiders can visit college through passes. ‘Noor’ is the mini version of Tarang which takes place before Diwali which is again filled with lots of stalls by NSS and societies, music while all the students wearing traditional. You can find a lot of speaker sessions here at LSR from IAS officers to ambassadors. Corporate employees to CEO, artists to authors every single week and they are open to everyone no matter which department is conducting them. You won’t get the North campus vibe here. It’s like a completely different college with no much inference in the DU elections or events. Still as the saying goes, no moment is fun until you make it. So balance is the key here between academics, societies and having fun with friends.
