BA Journalism at LSR Delhi: Admission, Faculty, and Facilities

The course I chosen is Journalism because I wish to pursue a career in editorial or PR in the future. To get admission in BA (Hons.) Journalism, you need to qualify CUET exam. The first round cutoff for this year was 770/800. For CUET, there are two available subject combinations to qualify. Any 3 subjects that are in list B and that you’ve studied in class 12th plus English, or general test & English. The admission process is quite simple and it’s online. As for exams, the faculty is chill. For our first semester, we had one round of internal assessments tests and projects per paper. Then we straight head to our end semester exams. Academically, the course is interesting. Although, first semester mostly consisted of theory papers. This college has a fully equipped media lab and studio. Most of our classes are conducted in media lab itself. The course is not as straining and can be managed easily.

Out of all the courses that this college offers, Journalism has a slightly higher fee. A general category student my first semester fee was around Rs. 30,000. This was including all the charges and any other applicable charges. There are certain scholarships that are available in the college. You can apply for them if your parent’s annual income is below 3 LPA.

The best thing about the course is the faculty. Most of the professors are really chill and friendly. You’ll be able to form a interactive bond with them. They’re relaxed about coming late to classes as well. Most of them scored us fairly in our internals, based on work and merit. They’re quite experienced with the field of work and provide personal anecdotes that give you insight about the industry. Even the projects projects assigned to us during class are interesting. The smaller batch size has its advantages as it leads to better student-teacher interaction. The teachers are approachable. Although their preferred mode of communication is in person rather than over text or call.

The placement cell of LSR is quite active. Getting into the cell as a student is really competitive as well. The students are offered plenty of opportunities from multiple high profile organization's.

The campus is beautiful. Every corner is surrounded by lush green trees and flowers. One of my favorite things about LSR is the wall murals- hand painted by students themselves. The campus also has several pet dogs. An interesting fact is that all the dogs are female! In terms pdf technical infrastructure, the new block does have large, spacious classrooms with big glass windows that offer a view. However, the old block has several shortcomings. The classrooms are poorly ventilated. There have been several instances where students have been asked to sit in cramped spaces due to lack of seats available. There is no provision of air conditioning, except for a few seminar halls and the media lab (one of the reasons why the fee for journalism is higher).

LSR campus life provides a very safe and comfortable environment for women. As a girl, it feels liberating to wear whatever you want without anyone questioning your virtue over it. I do feel that LSR being isolated from other college’s foes present a challenge. In terms of the “north campus” hype, LSR might seem a little boring, as there are only internal events. The student union and different societies do hold workshops and sessions during ECA slots and lunch break, which make campus life a little interesting. Ultimately, it depends on how much you’re participating and contributing towards societies that determine your experience of campus life. The overall scene is very relaxed. There’s many pretty spots around the campus where you can simply rest and hangout with friends between classes.
