PESIT South Campus is a good college but placement wise a little off. The reason being the management biased towards the other campus, i.e. Banashankari Campus. The college though has flourished ever since it has become a deemed university. Previously the college was affiliated to VTU. I enjoyed the atmosphere but college still lacked few basic things. For 1st year students, it was like we are staying in a jail. We outsiders were treated as babies that need to be handled with care. 7.30 pm was our deadline to be back at the hostels. The hired faculties were good as faculties used to chip and change in both the campuses. The student strength was the biggest area of concern as students were joining in till October. It was like college was open for admission all twelve months. No internship was provided to us and one thing that was evident was that there was lack of industry exposure.

The classes will teach you only what’s in the syllabus and if you have a craving for learning personal stack then do it yourself. Nobody will help as scores was the everything that mattered at the university. Academics of PESIT South Campus didn’t help me a bit and if one thinks I am joking around then please do join and see it yourself. I will be more than eager to read your review one day. Practical were compulsory because one can bunk the classes but no way, one can even think of missing them even if one is sick. I was searching for a positive and I finally got one and that is that college follows a certain academic time table and no matter what, it was followed whole heartedly.

Each lecture was of one hour and sometimes even the faculty started saying that the lecture time is too lengthy. Lecturers were neither ordinary nor extra ordinary. Since, it has more or less become mandatory to have PhD professors or professors who are passed out from IITs. PESIT has gone with the norms as changing the narrative is not in their DNA. Faculty hardly bothered about who is performing how and this made things simpler.

CGPA system was still like the school kind of system here as we were still getting percentage marks. So, those who have consistently scored over 60% till 7th semester were categorized in diamond bracket. It was a declining bracket as those who scores less that that were categorized under gold, and silver bracket. Both the campus students had to gather at one point where the pool placements were done. We all prepared so hard but the Banashankari campus students were pushed ahead of us and when our turn came, the companies were mostly done with their recruitments. This is as true as Ambani and rich and therefore I would never endorse students to join this college.

PESIT South Campus had on campus and off campus hostel. For first year students, it was compulsory to stay at Ammatra Hostel which was 5-6 kms from the college. When asked why this strange rule, the answer was that juniors are being ragged by seniors so for that reason the students are asked to stay at that hostel. First year hostel strictness were equivalent to jail and as soon as I entered the second year, I applied for the campus hostel. The hostel was nice as there were two and three seater rooms. The rooms were spacious enough and had all the furniture required. Even the washrooms were clean as the entire room and washrooms were cleaned daily. The mess food was ok but repetitive menu made it boring after a point.

Since the south campus is new, the labs, classrooms, and college building look fresh. The college offer very few courses but still the building was so huge. All thanks to their accommodation policy through which there is no limit on students who want to take admissions here. Just below the building there’s an open badminton court and the competition level while playing there became too high. There was a basketball court between the college and hostel building. The playground was just outside the main building and it was a decent sized ground to play any sport of your choice. Infrastructure wise the college was new but many facilities were missing like a gymnasium, amphitheater and a nice café.

PESIT South Campus must be the only college in Bangalore where cultural event doesn’t happen or even if they are organized, they are so less budgeted that nobody willingly takes interest. The technical fests story though is entirely different. Many start-ups and tech companies' people were being called upon. Their feedbacks and suggestions helped me improve as one learning that I took from this college was that there’s always room for improvement.
