My Thoughts over SDC

Overall Rating
Overall speaking, SDC is very good. In Shimoga, there are only two colleges. Out of these two, Sharavathi Dental College and Hospital receives maximum number of patients. Transportation facilities are also provided by the college which is very useful. The college environment is subtle. The greenery by far is the best thing about this college.
 

Academics Rating
BDS, Bachelor of Dental Surgery is a 5 year long course (4 year academics + 1year paid internship). First two years are basically for studying theory and understand practical work. From third year, department starts to post students in real-life hospital for clinical exposure. During final year, students get to be involved with maximum number of students. Hence it is the most important year.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here is top notch. Every faculty is well experienced and is from very reputed college. They have a wide array of knowledge along with practical skills which is very essential in this course. The faculty is very friendly. They focus on making us understand the concept rather than mugging up the theory.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Talking about infrastructure, the infrastructure is well built. It has total 9 departments. Each department is equipped with very good dental equipment. The central library has wide range of books including foreign authors. The classrooms are well spacious and the practical labs are also well equipped.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is SDC is very exciting. It is filled with many events, fests, workshops and more. We also have an inter-college fest. On top of that, since our college comes under RGUHS, we also have an inter-university games happening yearly.

    My overall experience in SDCH Shimoga is wonderful. The College has a very good patient inflow due to its location in city. Many people visit here giving it a very rich patient inflow exposure. Instead of other Dental Colleges in Shimoga, this is far better in my opinion. One of the most favourable factors that made me choose this College is that this is very near to my place, so there is no issue in travelling. The teachers present here are very experienced....     I joined this College because it is near to my city and has very good patient flow. SDCH Shimoga has supportive teachers and informative lectures. Practical labs and classrooms are very nice.     SDCH Shimoga is a well-known College in the city and recently celebrated its Silver Jubilee i.e. 25th Anniversery (in July 2025). The main factor which made me choose this College is that it has a very good inflow of patients as it is one of the nearest Dental Care Unit (Hospital).
