Sister Nivedita University MBA Review By Riya Saha

Though Sister Nivedita University was established in 2007, it has everything to offer for a bright future. With the variety of courses in the stream of Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, Humanities etc, it is becoming one of the greatest private autonomous institute in West Bengal. However, I feel honored to be a part of this institution as it was their MBA course that shaped my career in an extremely detailed way. This UGC and AICTE affiliated university had provided me the right space for growing up as a successful person. For the MBA course, CAT/GMAT/MAT score is necessary but for other post-graduation courses admissions are done through merit lists. So, SNU is relatively being a newly founded university but it has all the facilities to create a broader spectrum for students.

SNU has constructed its academic structure in such a way that it prepares students for any challenges. The academic panel was so strict that missing a class was not an option; rather we had to attend 7-8 classes a day. Their approach of teaching was very practical as the professors always used global business strategies while conducting lectures. Even SNU arranges internship programs for last semester students to give them a reality check and to make them able to achieve their goals. I learned a lot from SNU in my MBA course.

There are almost 150 faculties in the university and every one of them is a god-like figure. I am not exaggerating but the professors were so soft-spoken and helpful that they always allowed us to grow and learn. They were Ph.D. holders and some of the professors also had the experience of teaching in foreign universities. Even if a student had a question outside of the class, they never denied to help but always appreciated our willingness to learn. A special mention to our teachers who taught us technical subjects of MBA because coming from a BBA background it was rather impossible to have a foothold on that particular subject as rest all was like an extension of BBA.

Since it is a new university, you may have some doubts regarding its placements. Although, there is nothing to be worried about; Sister Nivedita University Placements are arranged every year for its final year students. Big recruiters like TCS, Amazon, Flipkart, Wipro, Capgemini, and Deloitte come every year to select eligible candidates with a high CTC of 6-8 LPA. In our batch, almost 80% students got placed and now living life the way we wanted. Some of my batch mates are in Paris or London and are earning in Euros and Pounds. SNU has made the students happy with some fantastic placement opportunities.

As SNU is located in Newtown which is a little far away from the mainland of Kolkata, a hostel is the only solution for the outstation students. SNU has two different hostels for boys and girls within the campus, providing huge deluxe rooms with proper hygiene and maintenance. The cost is a bit higher from govt. hostels but the quality of the food and staying are up to the mark.

Once you enter the university campus, it is difficult to take your eyes off from the well-designed classrooms and buildings. There are classrooms with modern equipment, two libraries, numerous auditoriums, three canteens, and a huge sports ground. We were surrounded by the high-class facilities on the campus that made us feel like a paradise. Nonetheless, the canteens on the campus were my favorites for their awesome collection of food menus. Even on the campus, we had a mini medical store for any kind of emergency. So, SNU was the best choice for me as it gave me some beautiful memories of a lifetime.

I bet no one can have the same experience of campus life as we had in SNU. There are various cultural clubs in the university and students are often participating in those cultural clubs to deliver something creative and extraordinary. I am also proud to say that there was no ragging, racism, or harassment against any student but all I witnessed is unity. The student council takes every responsibility to arrange cultural programs and annual fest so that the students can enjoy themselves. Also, at SNU, we had a prom night where we could select our dance partners like an American school. Isn’t it amazing? Those two years at SNU were the best years of my life and I never forget those memories.
