IIIT Una : Everything you need to know

Overall Rating
Currently I am in 5th semester and according to me this is a growing institute with a pleasant environment for students. The institute is built in an area of 80 acres but it is huge compared to the number of students which are increasing. It offers a good balance of academics, extracurricular activities and a peaceful campus life. There are several nearby tourist destinations like Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala in a range of 100km to 200km from the institute which makes it great for travelling.
 

Academics Rating
The initial semesters can be a bit hectic with a lot of academic pressure, but as you move into the later years, the workload eases and now I am able to manage my time better. There are stream electives and program electives which offer a lot of subjects like AI/ML, DBMS, Information Security, etc. You can choose your specialisation according to your choice. The attendance requirement is 75%, which is mandatory to take exams, but teachers tend to be more lenient as you become senior.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is understanding and decent. Most of them are Ph.D holders and the teacher-to-student ratio is good with 1 faculty for every 15 students. The professors are approachable and understanding. Most of the faculty is young and energetic which makes students understand the concepts easily but it's up to you to make the most out of their learning.
 

Placement Rating
Placements are decent here, with almost 50% of students getting placed by the end of November with an average CTC of 10 LPA to 11 LPA which is good for an institute which is still growing. Although the placement statistics took a hit after recession, but thing are getting back to normal quickly, and the campus is seeing good placement numbers again.
 

Hostel Rating
the hostels are new and well-maintained, there are three hostels, and each room is shared by three students, so you don't get so much privacy, but you'll get used to it over time. basic facilities like water and electricity are always available. hostel life is comfortable, though it might feel a bit crowded in the beginning. each student will get a chair, bed, table, and almirah for keeping their stuffs. there are two badminton court in each hostel, so you can play indoor games easily. there is a common room in each hostel for study purpose and organizing meetings
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is modern and well-equipped. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, though the internet can sometimes flicker for a bit. There is also a library with a wide range of books and it's open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The campus is clean with dustbins being placed every 15 metres away. The classrooms and labs are equipped with everything you need including a 12th gen i5 new computer for easy and practical learning.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life here is quite vibrant; there are various clubs and activities available. There are clubs like Aavash and eunoia. The Yaalgaar club organises around 15-17 days of sports events, while Mridang handles 4-day cultural festivals. This institute also allows you to visit nearby places for travel; there is a small mountain height nearby that you can visit on weekdays. You need to stay in the institute after 9:00 PM.

    In addition to my JEE ranking, I decided this college based on a number of factors. A friend of mine studying at IIITA recommended it to me, as well as a senior who I met through Instagram.   • Truth about IIIT UNA!

    Everything is good as much as I experienced. It has a permanent campus which many new IIITs lag in also placements are decent not good not bad. Faculty is also good most are PhD holders only some exceptions are there. Hostel facility is also good here. Overall if we see it's a good option for the one who has decent JEE rank (25k-30k)....   • A Mediocre college

    My overall experience at this college has been from mediocre to worse. The college facilities are nowhere to be seen but the faculty is very good and well equipped with PhD degrees. I chose this particular college because it has good connectivity as well as permanent campus and it is near to my home which is just a bonus.     Like any other IIIT the admission is done through JEE mains and JOSAA counseling followed by CSAB special round. After counseling the overall experience is okay, the seniors here are very chill and always ready to help. The college is situated at a very peaceful place and very close to tourist destinations like dharamshala and Shimla etc. Academics are given high priority here but still many sports event and extra-curricular event have been organised.
