I did mine under graduation from NIE Mysore a private College, that is the reason I started preparing for the master's from IIT. The admission process at IIT Roorkee is very similar to the undergrad counseling of Colleges. I got admission into the M.Tech course. I got here from my GATE score. The admission process is for a few days. I was hoping to do my masters from IIT Bombay, but luck and my GATE score brought me here. Studying at an IIT has always been a dream for me and lots of others like me. And after spending my 2 years in IIT Roorkee, It all made sense why it has been a fascination so far.

I joined the M. Tech course in computer applications. My under graduation was from the Computer Science Branch; therefore, I filled my GATE form with CSIT code and cleared it in my final year of under graduation. I was also offered one PSU, but I have always been into research, so I declined that offer. My reason to join this course is that in my undergrad, my College’s placement records were not nice so I decided back then in my second year that I will be preparing for the ultimate GATE exam. The course subjects are as per my expectations and were also very helpful in getting a high-paying job.

Faculties of IITs are always top-notch and in all the IITs. Most of our faculty members are the pass-outs of IIT-Roorkee themselves. There were more than 20 faculty members in our department. Their average teaching experience was very good. The academic qualifications of all the faculty members are brilliant. Most of the professors teach very well, also, many faculty members do not teach at all. Yet, we used to have unit tests and final exams each semester. Professors used to set these papers for us. But, in unit tests, professors do lenient checking.

Placement season in IITs is very furious both for undergrads and for master’s holders. In our course, while we were in our first year, I did an on-campus internship. This internship was a high-paying internship and all the credit goes to my IIT tag. The highest package in my batch went around 54 LPA. And the average package of our batch was around 18 LPA. The percentage ratio of students who received the placements was around 70%. The top companies visited in our College were Google, Amazon, HP, Lenovo, etc. In my College, there was one society where the student body was responsible for inviting the companies for placements to our campus. The internship and placement cell was highly active right when we were in our first year because in master's it is very important to learn faster as you have only two years.

Hostels on our campus were the Cautley’s Bhawan. As far as I remember, in my second year, I quit the hostel service and took a room in rent nearby our College campus. The hostel fees and College fees go together and are very affordable in the IITs. The food quality is very nice in the IITs. There was one particular menu that decided what food is to be made and when. This food menu was made every week. The hostel room for the master’s holder was a single room with one bed, table chair, and one cupboard. The hostel days in the IITs were not very fun as we were the master’s holders.

IIT Roorkee is among the oldest buildings in the country and it is designed by the Britishers. It has maintained its design till yet. Also, the entire campus is Wi-Fi-facilitated. There are large playgrounds where national level sports festivals, cultural programs, and nonetheless Uttarakhand’s biggest technical festival takes place, 'The Thomsons'. We have created amazing memories at Thomson’s events. At this festival, everyone including people from outside the College comes here to attend.

Campus life here at IIT Roorkee is amazing. You get to experience the core beauty of the city and the state of Uttarakhand all at once. There are many clubs and societies in our College, where we get to learn so many things and have some of the best days of our College life. During my stay at Roorkee, I had many trips in my free time to Roorkee City, Dehradun, Haridwar, and all the nearby cities. There are many fests, including the most famous fest of the state, The Thomson. Attending Thomson was among the best days of our life at IIT Roorkee.
