I am a CSE B.Tech student of IIT Mandi. This branch is a new and yet it is well structured, and beautiful. It is situated between stunning mountains in a beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh. There are rivers, lake, different type of trees, and beautiful mountains near about IIT Mandi. The first view institute is really so beautiful. It has 2 campuses, one is North campus and second is South campus. 4th year M.Tech and PhD students live in South campus. Rest of the students live in North campus. All the academic buildings, faculty houses are in North but research lab, playground are in South campus. The distance between these campuses is 3 kilometers. The overall experience of this institute is really very nice. I chose this college because it is an IIT and IITs has good placement, value in market along with best college life, brain, faculty, infrastructure, excellent facilities, etc. Due to all these reasons, every student should go there.

To take admission in IIT Mandi, it is necessary to get good rank in JEE Advanced exam. Before attempting JEE Advanced, you need to pass JEE Main. You must score 75% in 12th standard for general students and 65% for SC/ST/PwD students. Academics are well structured and primary focus is on practical applications. There are total 11 different branches in B.Tech including CSE, DSE, MNC, Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, etc. There are many other courses like MBA, M.Tech, PhD, MA, etc. for students to pursue. Dean academics are present to resolve all academic related problems.

The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. Most of them are holding PhD degree from prestigious institutions. They are knowledgeable and experienced in their own field. Their teaching methods are clear and easy to understand. They focus on both theory and practical learning. They are helpful and supportive, always ready to solve students' doubts. They are helpful and support vie. They focus on practical and industry level approach. All departments have multiple faculties. All faculties have teacher assistant(TA). Faculty conducts two exams in one semester. One is mid sem and another is end sem. Level of both exams is easy to moderate.

Yes, IIT Mandi has career and placement cell. This works hard to connect students with top companies. It organizes training session for students before placement and celebrates with students after placement. Many of the reputed core, noncore, research companies, and startup recruit the students. Some of them are Microsoft, Google, TCS, Adobe, Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm, Ola, Zomato, ISRO, etc. 60 to 70% students were placed this year in placements. There is also the opportunity for students who are interested in internship. Almost 50% students of third year batch got placed in internships.

Yes, the institute has residential facilities. Because it is a new IIT, all of the buildings and hostels of this are novel. There are multiple toilets (for handicapped students, there are special and separate toilet), indoor game facilities, security facility, free Wi-Fi, washing machine, heater, sports kit, LCD, microwave, iron, common room, and study room in every hostel. The rooms are clean and new. Charge of hostels is also less. The hostel life is very amazing. There are total nine messes in the hostel arena of both the campuses.

As mentioned multiple times, infrastructure is new and creative. There are present different buildings for all departments. There is total twenty academic buildings in North campus and almost 15 academic buildings in South campus. IIT Mandi has Entrepreneurship cell, different types of labs, school, SBI bank, career & placement cell, sports complex, auditorium, and many blocks that are more special. There is a playground of cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball, squad, and badminton. It is situated between beautiful mountains and the view is so amazing. It is like a tourism place. There is the facility of transport for students between both campuses and Mandi city.

Campus life is excellent due to its natural beauty and having the tag of IIT. Several fests are celebrated their such as ‘Expecto’ ( annual tech fest) celebrated in the month of March, ‘Exodia’ (annual cultural fest) celebrated in April, ‘RannNeeti’ which is a sports fest celebrated in the month of November, ‘Aavishkar’ is the technical fest that shows innovation, research, and technical projects of students. There is almost three thousand students total. Its campus is beautiful but area of campus is less with respect to other IITs. It has several students clubs (tech, cultural, riding, social, sports) funded by institute such as Robotronics, E-cell, MTB (riding club), programming, SAE, Aeroclub, music, dance, drama, agreeks, NSS etc. Ragging or any type of discrimination is not allowed here. After 12 AM, 1st year B.Tech girls are not allowed to go outside the hostel, timing for rest of the girls is 2 AM. Not all students can leave campus after 10 PM without permission. Security is very strict because it is situated in hilly area.
