IMS Unison is different from various private universities of the city

IMS Unison is without a doubt an excellent university but UPES Dehradun to me is the best as it’s an established house and has incredible placements and faculties. IMS Unison University lacked the placement part but definitely had the best set of faculties. One of the biggest pluses was that along with core BBA, it also offered many certification courses and specialisation if one wanted. First two years remained the same though and it was only in the final year when the specialisation subjects were included in the course. You might get a better option for BBA elsewhere but in Dehradun, it’s next to UPES for sure. However, if you do MBA after BBA, it would hardly matter from where you have done BBA and that’s a solid reason. I decided to stay at home and complete my graduation from a renowned university in my hometown. I set my goals straight from day one, I joined classes for MAT, CAT, and others and likewise one should do that because BBA alone from anywhere in India won’t help you reach where you have dreamt of.
There’s one thing with most universities in Dehradun that they start off with an interview before the admissions. I know students who were asked questions in English and they answered in Hindi and yet they got admissions. This is probably one change in academics or the admission procedure that I would like to see because even in B grade B-Schools their criteria is set that English is a language you should know. Coming to BBA, I did four certification programs along with marketing, retail, stock market and various other small certification programs conducted by the university. As a management student, one needs to know the world and for that all those workshops or the programs were equally important. So, thanks to IMS Unison for being so accommodative with their academics that one can have unlimited learning at their campus.
For BBA there were 20 odd faculties and all of them were MBA from top colleges of India. Unlike engineering, law, or other courses where one could find PhD faculties, our course, if I am not wrong, didn't have any. However, I judge them by their teaching acumen and that was indeed the best. Their encouragement and letting us know the importance of our course was the biggest learning I took from them. Faculties were always around when I needed them the most as any questions regarding my entrance preparation were also solved by them.
BBA placements were indeed not up to the mark. Some small companies Cynoteck Technology Pvt. Ltd., Audi India, Lisam Systems India Pvt. Ltd., HDFC Bank, Windlas Biotech, and others came for interviews and offered some students jobs worth 20k. It was a shame as I even asked one of the interviewers that in today’s world when the inflation is at an all time high, how one can manage their families with that petty amount. They started sharing their stories that they started with 6k in hand and are today interviewing people for their jobs. At once, I was motivated by his words but because I prepared well for the entrances, I knew I would at least be able to get into a B grade MBA college and hence I chucked the placement that was offered to me.
There were two boys and girls hostels of 5 floors each. Outsiders were not allowed to enter or go close to the hostel area and therefore that is all I can say about the hostels. There were some PGs around as some students loved living independently because the hostel had very strict curfew timings.
It was a green land and buildings of the University which were reconstructed in 2009 still look the same. This shows that the university had cleanliness and therefore what best one will find at university is clean roads, clean floors, and even the playground was cleaned daily. The grass was rolled almost daily to make sure students don’t get injured while playing. The auditorium was the only thing that had ACs at the campus as neither the classrooms nor the library had ACs. If there was something that they could change about infrastructure then the ACs should have been installed at the lecture halls. Inside the campus there was a huge canteen and three to four food trucks operating till 7-8 pm. So, one didn’t have to step out at all for food because with the canteen and those food trucks, one could find enough options.
The campus life was totally on students. I used to have my CAT classes at 6 but otherwise students who wanted to stay at the campus were allowed to sit back till 7 pm. One could use the campus library and sports facilities till then. I had some other plans and perhaps I missed heavily on this part to build a future. However, LAMHE, the college’s annual cultural event, had me participating in all three years.

Overall, the IMS Unison University is good if you are looking for good studies but don't expect much for placements. The Registration process is pretty much simple followed by an Application form. Be ready with the fees for the 1st semester and 1-year hostel (in case you avail of this facility) as this is the upfront payment that needs to be made on the first day of admission itself. Overall, the management of the college is good, security is fully inculcated at the core parts of the college.... Read Full Review

IMS Unison University was quite far from my home but I kind of made up my mind to study here as I heard a lot of good things about the college. BBA was my preferred bet as after opting commerce in higher studies there aren’t much options. The university has a great infrastructure, a great management that look after its students extremely well. There’s no ragging or things where juniors have to obey senior’s orders. In fact, the relationship between juniors and seniors was more of a brother... Read Full Review
IMS is a good university and BBA program may not get you placement but is good to give you exposure. Quaint city, Dehradun is known for schooling and colleges but lacks far behind when it comes to placement. This is a known fact but still, students from various or should I say almost all states come and study here. IMS may not be as popular as rest of the universities of the city but is good in terms of education and infrastructure. The university is comparatively quite small than the other univ...
