My Personal Experience at University of Mumbai

Overall Rating
So it's been 2 to 3 years in this university and it has been a rollercoaster ride indeed. The university is improving a lot though in every aspect. The seniors are cooperative. Moreover, the professors are helpful as well. The management of the university can be better though. It provides you time to do internships in various places so that's truly a plus point. Moreover there are frequent competitions and seminars held along with moot courts as well, leading to better skills in the students. Cultural fests are also held including sports events as well.
 

Academics Rating
So the course being BBA LLB (Hons.), we have Law subjects from very first semester itself, which provides us an edge over other students who are pursuing the same course in other educational institutions. The eligibility criterion for the university is giving the MHCET exam. Based on the merit and rank under the exam, the admission is given.
The fee is around Rs. 50,000 to 55,000 per year. The payment can be done in parts as in semester wise as well as year wise (whichever way is suitable to the students). The fee is paid by either DD format or online transaction. However, there is different fee structure for the students of different categories as in General, EBC, OBC, SC, and ST sections.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is awesome and very cooperative in every aspect. They are very qualified. However, it's upto you on how much you can extract from your professors. The bonding with the faculty is very good. They are not just faculty but mentors as well. The professors are very sharp and are always updated regarding every topic keeping us updated as well.
 

Placement Rating
The placement cell is still budding and will soon be running in full pace maybe in a month or two. Nonetheless, it does provide internships opportunities.
 

Hostel Rating
The Thane campus of University of Mumbai doesn't provide hostel facilities. On the contrary there are hostels in the main campus (Kalina).
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of Thane campus is quite good. It's a small campus but has good & cozy infrastructure. It has canteen, library, gymkhana, seminar hall, moot court hall, computer lab, and sufficient classrooms as well. There is not much in infrastructure of University of Mumbai though, yet it's satisfactory. Not too flashy or big, rather small but still I guess that's enough for a university campus, which hosts only two integrated courses.
 

Campus Rating
There is not much of a campus life though here, the university crowd is average. There are many clubs and committees such as academic committees, placement committee, industrial visit committee, Khwaish fest committee, etc. I am the head of placement committee. There are extracurricular activities and fest as well along with some seminars and competitions regarding various things. Students can make the most out of it if they are interested.

  • Choose B.A.LL.B Course at University of Mumbai

    Kalina Campus of Mumbai University is where the Law department is and we just have two floors assigned. Since most universities are small, in Mumbai, our university campus is used for many universities’ guest lectures and seminars and we get the advantage there, as university students are also permitted to attend those events. Placements are a bit sparse and that is the only drawback as otherwise studying law from University of Mumbai is a bigger novelty than studying in MNLU or GLC.... Read Full Review

  • Understanding the Exam Structure and Admission Process at University of Mumbai

    I chose this university because of the faculty which is very supportive. I'm a chess player and the faculties are very approachable when it comes to chess. My experience is good at University of Mumbai. If you are a sports player then this is the best university for you. Other than sports this university is good for academics as well.     College is surrounded by lush gardens and trees, which makes you forget the crowded and fast life of Mumbai. Being a student of business I was very lucky to get admission here and got to live the life of Mumbai. College took us on a lot of industrial visits and helped us get internships in some MNCs.
