The prestigious North Campus of DU has many prestigious colleges like Hansraj, SRCC, Hindu College, St. Stephens College, Ramjas College, and Delhi School of Economics among others. One such college that has matches shots with these colleges is SGTB Khalsa College. Since it’s on North Campus, it automatically makes the case stronger among the best-reputed colleges of DU. SGTB has one of the best academically strongest crowds. Top students of Delhi and other states come and study here as the ratio of outsiders is the highest in SGTB among all the North Campus colleges. The value of your B.Com degree will increase after pursuing it from here. Look, I am from Punjab and since it’s a Sikh college, my views may be a little biased as to many. Thus, make judgments based on your preferences. While writing, I was in a dilemma or conundrum because every other person has their own opinion and one can argue that if I claim it’s the best, stats have the other story. As per me, Khalsa is one place where one can have fun and study simultaneously.

Since only academically strong students can enter this college, the crowd doesn’t need any introduction. Now if all are geniuses means they all value education more and so does college. The academics here were so consistent and therefore I give full credit to the college for making it their stronghold. Education here is ramrod straight because like all DU colleges, there are, no one was forced as every individual here was allowed to make their choices. The academics here were locked because one can do all they want while maintaining the required attendance.

The faculties here have everything under their control. The students who didn’t have the required attendance were made to beg as the faculties gave everyone a fair chance to make their point. However, if someone repeated the same strategy the next semester, they were shown the exit doors. So, the fair enough faculties here took care of students but just like parents, they didn’t fulfill all their demands. I can’t criticize the faculties for making many students not appear for the exams because everyone was given a fair chance and chance to rectify their mistakes, but those who didn’t were taught a lesson too.

Being a part of this college, I can say that placements were upright with all the colleges of North Campus be it SRCC. Forget about the placement data that the college claims but I have seen it myself that students here were placed with packages worth 5 lakhs and more. The time was something else as a new government was formed and we were getting out of recession. So, in that regards the placements were good. The only part not good was that only 30% of students were placed as the rest had to make way for the ones who deserved the placements more than anyone else.

There is a girls' hostel inside the campus but no boys' hostel facilities are provided by the college. DU hostels do have certain seats for SGTB but the college has no such facilities. The girl's hostel looked poor to me as all the rooms were allotted on triple sharing. The boys who were outsiders had to find some PGs as the area close to North Campus has many budgeted houses because many students of several colleges on North Campus used to stay at the PGs. Delhi might be the capital but it is still cheaper than cities like Bangalore, Pune, and of course Mumbai.

I will start off with the library as Mata Gujri Library was one of the biggest libraries of DU. In terms of sporting facilities too, the college had the best facilities. From indoor to outdoor, all the sporting facilities were the best, and students were encouraged to participate in the sports as many students from the college have represented the college at the national level. Perhaps, this is the only college of DU that has a shooting range too. There’s a small market inside the campus as it had a couple of shops like a medical shop, a general store, and stationery. Then comes our hangout sport which was called ‘Jannat’.

We spent our maximum time at Jannat as it was the boys’ area while the girls’ area was called Nukkad. College used to host ample events and one such was the annual fest Lashkara. The event was a three-day affair in which many cultural and academic events occurred. Many celebrities including Honey Singh came and performed at the college. With competent students and the most hard-working faculties, my campus life at SGTB was sorted. One must work hard to ace the semesters here as there are no shortcuts to passing exams at DU.
