Placement Opportunities for CSE Students at NIT Calicut

I joined NIT Calicut on August 21st to pursue my studies in Computer Science & Engineering department. Recently my 1st semester examinations are completed and I got 8.67 grade. Campus is very nice and climate is good. Institute has lot of departments and faculty. Faculties are excellent. Labs are also running very good. I have chosen this institute because of its best education system and timings. It is better than so many NITs and some IITs. Overall, institute is very good.

I like Computer Science & Engineering, in B.Tech course that's why I have chosen this course. The eligibility criteria are firstly we have to qualify in JEE Main and get the decent rank to qualify. After qualifying, we have to go through admission process as the college sends from email. After coming to the institute, it will give suggestions about remaining admission process such as submitting required documents. Every semester in each course has mid semester exams and an end semester exam. The evaluation may be relative or absolute. The faculty teaches very well about what we have to learn and how to improve skills for the purpose of our further studies or jobs or internships.

I paid Rs. 93,000 for a 1st year. Usually fee depends on caste and income. I also paid Rs. 85,000 for hostel and mess for 1st year.

My faculties are teaching very well versed. All of them have completed their PhDs in a particular concept. Their teaching style is nice with students. They are using both PPTs and black board for explanation. Some faculty is encourages group discussion among students. Their ability of problem solving is very good because they are perfect in their concept. The teacher to student ratio is 3:7. Actually, I feel shy to ask doubts to faculty that's why I have not that much affection with faculty. We can approach them through email also.

Here now, placements may vary from one department to another. For CSE students, it is around 100%. In general, it is around 70%. Many big companies come to this institute for hiring students.

NIT Calicut has hostel facilities. Girl’s and boy’s hostels are separate. For first year students, rooms are in triple sharing. Students of rest of the years have double sharing rooms. Mess is good. Curfew in hostels starts from 9:00 PM. My experience in hostels is also very good.

There is an academic block for any queries and checking our documents. Campus size is over 300 acres. There are so many departmental blocks for each course. Classrooms are very nice and capacity is 100. 3 canteens are in there is the campus. One marvelous library is having lot of books. Each department has Labs. There is also one auditorium and indoor stadium for Badminton. Sports facilities are also there. Institute also has one medical centre and ambulance is available 24 hours. Security is also strict here. OAT is my favorite place where all cultural fests are conduct. It also an open GYM.

My life is good here. Crowd is high. Institute has clubs such as robotics, dance, yoga, and lot more. Annually, it conducts two fests one is Tatva a technical fest, and another one is Ragam a cultural fest. Other events are conducted for festivals, NCC, NSS, etc. And yoga here. Students can engage themselves in many extracurricular activities. My experience is very good here.
