CUET Exam: A Pathway to Hansraj College

It is a very renowned college for both B.Com Honors as well as Economics Honors. The college has more than 30 societies. So one could easily choose their passion through getting into these societies. The exam through which one gets into Delhi University is known as CUET (Common University Entrance Test). this exam is held all over India in the month of May where one is eligible to take those subject’s test which he / she has studied in their class 12th standard. I gave the exam for Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and English. All papers where of 200 mark each. So the total becomes 800. There are total of 50 multiple choice questions out of which 40 needs to be attempted. Each question carries 5 marks. For every wrong answer 1 mark is deducted. So to get into Hansraj College being from a general category one should get more than 775 out of 800. For B.Com Honors there is no compulsion for Mathematics. But for Economics Honors one must have Mathematics in class 12th. The syllabus for CUET exam is same as that of the class 12th.

The fees for B.Com Honors for the whole year are around Rs. 28,000. The amount of fees varies from different categories. The lowest fees are paid by the ST/SC category. There are various scholarships programs offered like the Dell Aspire Scholarship provided by the college.

We have well educated faculty in Hansraj College who have been there for a good number of year. The faculty members have Ph.D and various specializations in their particular course subject. Various methods are used by the professors to make the lectures more engaging like group presentations are performed on various topics and different case studies are also discussed. The professors are always ready to take up our doubts and clear them during the classes itself. Projectors are as well used. One gets connected through various WhatsApp groups to the concerned teachers.

Hansraj College has a placement cell which is quite active and does impressive work by bringing on board various renowned companies. Prominent recruiters include leading consulting firms such as Bain & Company, Kearney, LEK Consulting, Accenture Strategy, ZS Associates, and Deloitte. Participation from major financial and professional services firms like DE Shaw, EY, KPMG, and PwC is seen in the college. Additionally, companies from sectors like investment banking, finance, FMCG, and pharmaceuticals to recruit young talents from the college. In 2023-24 the highest package was valued at 23 lakh per annum and an average package for 8.5 lakh per annum. And almost 280 offers were made to the students. The majority placement is seen from B.Com Honors.

Yes, our college does offer hostel facilities. There are separate hostel for both boys and girls. Boy’s hostel is big compared to girl’s hostel. The hostel is inside the college campus itself. Issues which are faced by students are of the laundry system one needs to wash their clothes themselves. Washrooms are not attached to the rooms as the hostel has common washrooms. There is a mess in boy’s hostel and both girls & boys are served food there only. Hostels are allotted on the basis of your marks and the far distance from your hometown. Interview rounds are also held for the hostel allocation.

Hansraj College has a small but a beautiful campus. There are 3 different eating places present in the college campus itself. First is the college canteen. It provides different eating and drinking items at a reasonable rate with proper hygiene. The next place is the Mitti cafe it is comparatively expensive than the college canteen but the food is quite tasty and third is the Coca Cola which is present in the LP area it's a kind of snacking area. The classrooms are well furnished with ACs in each classroom which is a great stress reliever during the summers. Library is also having centralised ACs. All the books are available and can be easily issued just with the help of identity card. The college has sports ground and a sports room for playing badminton and table tennis. There are security guards present on all the gates of the college and no-one is allowed without identity card.

Overall the campus life at Hansraj College is quite happening burdened under number of assignments and presentations. There are number of societies present in the college such as ComSoc (the commerce society), 180DC (the consulting society), the E-cell (The Entrepreneurial cell), Oorja (the western dance society), culinary arts (the food society), vintage (the fashion society) and many more so the college provides end number of opportunities through these societies. Various fests and fairs are as well hosted during the Diwali and Holi time. There is a healthy environment and no ragging that takes place in the college campus.
