Pros and Cons of Studying at Yenepoya University, Mangalore

Yenepoya University is one of prominent universities in Karnataka state. Overall the thing I like the most in the campus life is that a lot of events and fests are organised in this university. Infrastructure wise the university is high class, having various facilities in every aspect. The one thing I don't like is the number of holidays is very less here.

I chose the course 'Bachelor of Computer Application' because of its scope in the future. Also, Yenepoya University provides add on courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Machine learning with this course. The eligibility criteria is 40% marks in the PUC exam. The admission process is simple and easy, you just need to have necessary documents, and staffs will help for the admission process. Exams are held semester wise and two internal exams are there in each semester. Academics here teach various things that can be used for tackling the real life challenges.

For my course, the fee at Yenepoya University is Rs. 75,000 per semester and Rs. 1, 50,000 per year because of the add-on programs and tie up with prominent companies like IBM and TCS for training in attaining skills. Admission fees are around Rs. 26,000, no other funds or charges are there. Discounts in fees are applicable based on the marks of PUC exams.

I won't tell all the faculties are good, but there are faculties at Yenepoya University who are experienced in the teaching field and also there are freshers as faculty. The faculty backgrounds are good and they have good achievements in different skills as well. Method of teaching includes the use of smart board, ppt, seminars, group discussions, and other activities. For 50 students there is 1 teacher, this is the ratio at Yenepoya University. Teachers are so friendly that we can share actually anything with them. They can be approached at any time.

Placement cell is present in the university and is very active. Information about any job opportunities, or skill based learning activities are provided by the cell. There are certain staffs only assigned for the placement related enquiries. Prominent companies like IBM, TCS, and Microsoft are the main recruiters. Packages are offered with an average of 4.5 lakh per annum.

Hostel service is provided by Yenepoya University, it is opted during the admission process itself. There are around 300-350 rooms in hostel. Each room is shared with 6 students. Boys and girls hostels are separate. Mess food is good. The hostel rules are so strict and permissions are required for going out. You have to enter the hostel before 7 PM. hostel fee is Rs. 1, 20,000 per year and is paid year wise.

Campus size is comparatively less based on the area, but Yenepoya University is located in the center of Mangalore city. Facilities like library, conference hall, labs and all are high class and fully air conditioned. Wi-fi is available in every part of the campus. Transport facilities are provided by the university to hostel and it is included in fees. Medical support is available in the university. Canteens are also present in the college for students. Proper security measures are also there for safety of the students. Each and every corner of the campus is under CCTV surveillance 24x7. My favorite place in the university is the garden area, it is very beautiful.

Campus life is awesome in Yenepoya University, because of the activities and events held in the university. University crowd is comparatively large. There are more than 15 clubs like eco club, sports club, media club, music club, arts clubs, etc. Various extracurricular activities like sports, talent shows and different activities are held yearly in the university, Certain fests and events are held monthly or some times weekly also, such as festivals like Halloween party, fashion week, nutrition week, etc.
