Hostel Life at Chandigarh University - Food, Facilities and Safety

The overall experience at Chandigarh University is good as they mainly focus on the student’s overall growth. If we talk about academics I believe that Chandigarh University is far better because they have different options and they provide quality of education. As we see they have also good number of companies visiting the campus for placement. Also from third or fourth semester they start preparing us for the placements.

So my course is Bachelor of Engineering and for this we have to score more than 60% - 65% in board examination without any backlog. To take admission in this university we have to give an online test. On the basis of that test we get some scholarship and then we get the admission in this university. 2 mid semester test and one end-semester test are conducted here. Every month we have one MST which is a Mid Semester Test and after having an EST for the senior students we have boot camp and for juniors like first and second year there are some online classes and vacations for 2 months.

At Chandigarh University, For my course the semester wise fee is Rs. 1, 20,000 without any scholarship and if you get some scholarship then it will be deducted from your main fee. The examination fee is Rs. 2,500 for every semester. The scholarship is for 1 year. The scholarship depends on the number you have scored in the online examination that you have given for taking admission in the university.

The faculty members of our department are really good. They always try to help us. When they are teaching in our class the use to open some ppt and teach from that. They provide us some notes to study and they give us topics to study so that in the next class we can explain those topics. Maximum of the faculties at Chandigarh University have good knowledge of the subject they are teaching. They conduct some surprise tests in our classes. We have to summit our assignments on time always. In a class there are 70 students and for theory subjects we have one teacher for 70 students but for the practical subjects there are 35 students and one teacher. And we have a mentor also they keep a check on our academic performance and attendance. We can always reach out to them if we have any issue regarding academics or personal life.

The placement of Chandigarh University is good because they bring so many companies in the campus. They make sure that maximum students get placed as they provide extra classes every evening. From 4th semester only they starts training us for the placement. As currently I am in 3rd year and there are so many companies who have visited for hiring 3rd year students. The average package is around 5 to 6 LPA.

For girls there are four seater rooms available and for boys there are 5 seater, 4 seater, 3 seater, and 2 seater rooms. The girl’s hostel is in the different part of the campus. If we talk about the mess food, they give us different types of food options. For breakfast the mess opens from 7:30 to 9 o'clock; for lunch it opens at 12 to 2 o'clock; for snacks it opens from 4:30 to 5:15; and for dinner it opens at 7:30 to 9 o'clock. They maintain proper hygiene in the mess. The person who serves the food is wearing gloves and have their heads covered. They have provided lifts in the hostel and we have a warden who takes our attendance every day. For safety it's really nice because they have proper day out and night out rules. The students are required to take permission from the parents before going out of the hostel.

The infrastructure of Chandigarh University is really nice as they have different types of buildings. In labs we have PC'S for our practical works. In all the academic buildings we have a library and there is one central library in the university. The central library closes at 10 o'clock at night. There is a seminar hall in all the academic blocks and 3 big auditoriums in the campus of Chandigarh University.

The overall campus life is really nice. The crowd is good and there are different types of clubs and societies in our university. The student can join any club and society as per their choice. If a person wants to start their own club or society, they can do it also, but they should have a proper and a good idea so that they get the permission to open their club and society. And if we talk about the events and the fest, we can say that in first or third semester they organise one of the biggest event of Chandigarh University. There are so many other events like Tashan Night, etc. Many actors come to the university for promoting their movies.
