SLIET Sangrur: Academics, Fee Structure, and Placements

My experience in the institute is average. In terms of academics, the institute is good. Fee structure is also affordable. Some rules & regulations are strict though. In exception to that, the institute is good.

The Food Engineering & Technology department of SLIET Sangrur is quite good. Here you can get admission through GATE, SET (SLIET Entrance Test) or spot counseling (if seats are available only then). The admission process is very simple; the authority will guide you very well about that. There are total 4 semesters in Masters. In every semester, there are 2 minor exams and 2 quizzes. At the end of the semester, there is an internal end semester exam. The academic is very helpful.

Fee is not too much. For every semester, it is around Rs. 28,000 and for a year, it is Rs. 56,000. The hostel fee is taken differently which is around Rs. 20,000 per semester. Special discount is available for EwS students on semester fee. There are lots of other scholarships present for students. National scholarship and Punjab government's scholarship also. The amount of NSP scholarship is 12,000 per month. For GATE qualified students there is also scholarship present which is also 12,400 every month for 2 years.

Faculty members are well qualified. They have so much knowledge. All the facilities have PhD degree. They are very helpful and kind towards students except few.

Placement is so good for B.Tech students. Not sure about Masters students yet, because I am also new here but I heard, it is good. The Training & Placement Cell at SLIET’s Food Technology Department provides internship opportunities and industry exposure through collaborations with food industries. While core food tech placements are moderate, students often get placed in quality control, R&D, and production roles in companies like Nestlé, Amul, and ITC. Some opted for higher studies or government jobs. Skill-based training, workshops, and industrial visits are organized, but campus recruitment for food tech companies could improve. Networking and off-campus applications are crucial for better job prospects.

Hostel is average. There are many rules and regulations to be followed. The departments are far away from hostels. Mess provides vegetarian food. The entry time for girls hostel is 6:30 PM whereas classes off at 5:30 PM.

In case of infrastructure, blocks are beautiful. Classrooms are digital and air-conditioned. Seminar hall is present in every block. There is a library with a vast number of books.

Campus life is average. The girls have much rules and regulations. There are various clubs but not all clubs are active. You will see people who are everywhere doing everything. There is a techfest and cultural fest named ‘Madhuram’ My campus life experience could have been better. Only, the academic here is good.
