SLIET Sangrur has Around 10 Boys' Hostels

I am having a great experience at SLIET Sangrur. I have spent 6 months in the Institute. I am going to share my experience. Institute is great campus is full of greenery as it is surrounded by nature. I chose this Institute because fee was very affordable. The best thing about Institute is that you can gain more practical knowledge rather than theoretical.

My specialisation is Civil Engineering. I would recommend more students to choose this branch. To apply for admission in this Institute, student must secure 75% in their class 12th To get admission in SLIET Sangrur, you have to appear for JEE Main examination, after that, you have to go through counselling process (JoSAA and CSAB). Semester exams are divided into three type that is minor 1, minor 2, and major examination minor test contains of 15 marks and major examination contain of 50 marks. 10 marks are for assignment. Ultimately, you have to score 33 out of 100 to pass the exam. Academics prepare really well for you real life challenge. Since every month, you have exams, assignment submission, and all other things you will get used to work on the project and eventually you will build up the habit of consistency.

Total fees for 4 years is Rs. 2,81,000/- and hostel fee is Rs. 36,000/- for 4 years. Total fee including hostel and tuition fee is Rs. 3,17,000/-. At the time of admission, you have to pay Rs. 70,000/-, which is your semester fee, caution money, registration fee, and other charges. In the final year, you get refund of Rs. 14,500/- as caution money, which you paid at the time of admission. Scholarship provided by the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Sangrur.

Faculty members are very cooperative and helpful in nature. Most of the faculty members have graduated from top Institute like IITs, NITs, and from top level GFTIs. A few of the faculty members have done their Ph.D from aboard. Method of teaching depends on the subject. Generally, it is through PPTs & group discussions. My bonding with teachers is good. They interact with each student to solve their problems.

The Placement Cell is very active at the Institute. Placement Cell gives updated details information about the recruitment. They prepare students about interview rounds they prepare students for the industry.

Yes, Institute does offer residential facilities. There are total 10 boys’ hostels and 4 girls’ hostel available in the Institute. During the first two years, students get triple sharing room. From third year onwards, if a student has good CGPA (above 8 students), she / he can live in single seater rooms. However, in final everyone gets single occupancy rooms. Mess food is okay & quality is good enough to eat. Hygiene is being maintained in the mess. Hostel fee is Rs. 9000/- for one year. There is certain timing to report at the hostel. For boys, it is 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM and for girls, it is from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. My personal experience is good.

For different branches, there are different department blocks. Campus is spread around 450 acres it has been located in the Sangrur district of Punjab. Nearby town is Longowal Institute is situated in village & nearest city is around 18 KMs from the campus. Classroom capacity depends from class to class however, around 70 students can easily sit in each classroom. Library is big enough there are enormous amount of books available. It is open 24/7 for students. Labs facilities are available in each department. Auditorium is quite big, it can accommodate around huge number of students. Canteen is available. There is also health centre available in the Institute campus, which take care of health of the student’s faculty and other residents. My favorite infrastructure in the Institute is the new Electronic block. My academic experience is quite according to the fees we are getting enough facilities here.

My overall campus life is good. I am in the process of learning and up skilling myself. Institute crowd is dynamic & diverse. There are many of the clubs present in the Institute & some of the famous clubs are Endeavour, Mavericks, and Siesta. A few extracurricular activities like quiz competition, science fair, youth parliament, and others are held. There are total two fests, which are organized annually that is technical and cultural fest (Madhuram). Technical fest is organized at the month of September and Madhuram is being organised in the month of April. Campus life is great.
