BIT Mesra: A 780-Acre Green Campus with Top-Notch Placements

BIT Mesra has a lush green campus of 780 acres. It has an excellent placement record. Faculties are quite educated. Institute also organizes many fests & activities. Hostel food and cleanliness is average too.

I chose B.Tech (Chemical Engineering) in this institute. In boards, you need secure above 75%. In addition JEE Main percentile should be above 95% for General Category. Admission process is through JoSAA and SCAB counseling. So, in a semester two major exams are there i.e. mid sem and end sem. In between these two, there are many quizzes, which in total form our CGPA. As students in this collage have cleared one of the toughest exams, questions papers in these exams of the institute also try to maintain the same level. Overall, the academics are conceptual and help us to face real life challenges.

The yearly fee is Rs. 4,65,000. Per semester, tuition fee is Rs. 1,90,000, admission fee (one time) is Rs. 17,500, caution money submitted is Rs. 10,000 (which is refundable), hostel charges are around Rs. 20,000 and mess fee is Rs. 35,000 along with Rs. 5,000 as hostel caution money.

Faculty in BIT Mesra has a very good reputation. They are very well educated, PhD holders, and have research experience of minimum 10 years. Here, professors teach on blackboard and use PPTs to give us more clarity. Faculties solve few questions on board and give few as tutorials. If we have doubt among those tutorial questions then extra tutorial class is arranged. Teacher to student ratio is around 1:30, which is balanced. Bonding between students and teachers is appreciable as they are always available for all kind of doubts and queries.

TNP i.e. Training & Placement Cell is available here. From second year, we have access of TNP cell. Large a number of companies visit the campus as recruiters; TNP cell provides a direction to the students to help explore the opportunities in internships and jobs. Many big and renowned companies visit here include Google, Amazon, Tata, Infosys, etc. Average package offered is around 10 LPA to 12 LPA. For CSE students, average package is around 15 LPA to 16 LPA. Highest package is 52 LPA.

Yes, the institute has its own hostels. There are total 13 hostels in which 2 hostels are of girls and rest 11 are of boys. Hostels have their own mess along with a big space outside each hostel where there are badminton and volleyball courts. Hostels have their own gym. Girls’ and boys’ hostels are completely separated. Girls’ hostels are secured with many guards. Mess food is average perhaps hygienic and food is served 4 times a day. Girls’ hostel in-time is 9 PM sharp; after that, no girl is allowed to leave the hostel. Every day, attendance is marked between 8 PM to 9 PM. Hostels are very safe.

The campus has a main building where all classes take place. RND (Research & Development) building is for CSE branch and researches, a Production & Industrial Engineering building is for Mechanical & Production branch, Mathematics department building. Apart from, there is a sports complex. There are many classrooms in the main building as well as separate lecture halls where there is seating capacity of 150 students. There is a library, many labs like Chemistry, Electrical, Electronics, Physics, etc., halls (such as seminar halls, CAT hall, etc.) and GP Birla auditorium. There are many canteens such as Meek canteen, Pathan canteen, etc. Moreover, the institute has its own dispensary that is free for the students. My favorite place here is library, which is very calm and provides proper environment to study.

Campus life here is overall great. Institute crowd is quite educated and well mannered as well. Here, along with academics students handle other activities as well. There are many cultural and technical clubs like IET, IEEE, SDS, LEO, Dhwani, Essay, and Dance. There are many fest and events as if BITOTSAV, Pantheon, and Bharat Mahotsav etc. All in all, it is not only strong in academics and placement but also helps its student build a strong personality.
