BIT Mesra have two major fests, ‘Pantheon’, a Tech fest, and ‘Bitotsav’, a cultural fest

Overall, it's a good environment surrounded by nature, trees and a river. It feels nice to be surrounded by nature. River Point is beautiful, and one can find a variety of plants and trees all along the roads of Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi. Experience has been quite overwhelming and good. Every facility is provided to us, and different course requirements are also fulfilled. We have temples too, and we celebrate each festival with lots of zeal and enthusiasm.

We have different courses, each of which requires a hard and good CGPA. Admission is taken into this Institute based on the JEE marks. They have to enlist in JoSAA counselling and CSAB for admission. The course chosen by me is CSE, and the only agenda was to develop in the Tech field. We have a mid-semester of 25 marks and an end-semester of 50 marks. The rest are quizzes of 10 marks and assignments. For the lab, we have to maintain a journal; we have a lab performance of 30 marks and viva & a quiz too.

The overall fees for my course is Rs. 21,00,000/-. It keeps increasing batch-wise. The fees include tuition fees, infrastructure fees, Institute fees, IT and management fees (one-time at the time of admission), hostel fees and mess fees, which are paid separately to the welfare society. Tuition fees are about Rs. 1,60,000/- to Rs. 2,20,000/- per semester. Mess fees vary from Rs. 23,000/- to Rs. 31,000/- . Scholarship schemes are available for students based on their performance in that semester.

The faculty is supportive, friendly and helpful. They provide us with the required resources online and offline. They are approachable and clear our doubts in a comprehensive manner. All are well-qualified and professional. They motivate us towards career opportunities. The way of teaching varies from Professor to Professor. Just follow their notes and materials, and it becomes easy to get good marks in the exam. Maintain a humble and respectful persona and pay attention to their materials and contents.

Placement and Internship season at BIT Mesra is bang on. However, it is tiring and scary because sometimes fewer companies visit in a month, or some take just a few. The TNP Cell makes sure that the companies visit and everyone gets to sit. Last year, the highest package was of 1.2 CR, and the average was about 12 LPA.

We have about 14 hostels. The inner hostels for boys are good, the rest are decent. For girls, the hostels are good. The quality of mess food varies from hostel to hostel. Sometimes, it's good, and sometimes below average. Girls' hostel has proper security, boundary and gates to ensure safe travelling. Each hostel has about 200-300 rooms. Hostel fee is a little expensive, and the mess fee too. A basic grocery store is available inside the girls' hostel, including the gym. The boys' hostel is near the shopping complexes. Night canteen and vending machines are also available inside the boys' and girls' hostels, respectively.

The campus is quite spacious, built on about 782 acres. We have different buildings for different departments, a huge central library, 14 hostels, many shopping complexes, banks, quarters for residents and Professors, an NCC ground, huge sports complex with different types of sports to be played and a cricket oval too. The classrooms are spacious. Some are small, some are like lecture halls. Different seminar halls are there like the auditorium and a conference hall. Different labs are present for various departments, each equipped with different inbuilt machines. An inbuilt dispensary with a 24/7 ambulance facility. Buses are available at regular intervals, and autos are present 24/7.

So the campus life of Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi is pretty decent and above average. Just like any other Institute, we have two major fests, ‘Pantheon’, a Tech fest, and ‘Bitotsav’, a cultural fest. Pantheon is a 3-day event which includes different club events, Hackathon, DJ night, heritage night, classical performance, band performance. Bitotsav contains club events, DJ night, concert, band show, and cultural performance. Apart from this, we have around 33 clubs which keep organising their flagship events, which are indeed enthusiastic and fun. Clubs keep organising various engaging events, some include speaker sessions, and we have had notable speakers visiting our Institute. Very recently, the President of India had visited our Institute. Overall experience is quite fun and going well. The year was very chill. Second year onwards, academics started becoming a bit tougher.
