VIT Vellore’s Admission Process and Fee Structure

I opted Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore over other institutes because the rules in this institute are very perfect for me. They are parent friendly and also student friendly. Institute has impressive placements. The campus is very big and pleasant with a delightful environment. There are good faculties here, which help to study and understand concepts quickly and easily. Institute has a very good infrastructure and beautiful hostels. Institute is definitely be a best place for you to know who you are and what you want to become.

I opted for Information Technology. The admission process in VIT is very simple the student needs to write an entrance exam conducted by institute. Once the exam results are released there will be levels of counseling based on the student's ranks. Students can opt various courses under various categories which will be allotted rank wise. The eligibility criterion is that the student must complete his secondary education. A semester in the institute consists of 15 weeks where exams are conducted once in 5 weeks. Curriculum not only allows students to increase exposure but also makes the student very happy by giving them study satisfaction. The default curriculum itself includes a lot of courses which were very useful to become a software engineer.

There are basically five fee categories in Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. Based on the rank and availability you can choose any category from any course you wish. The fee structure per year is as follows for 1st category it is 2 LPA, for 2nd category it is 3 LPA, for 3rd category it is 4 LPA, for 4th category it is 4.5 LPA, and for 5th category it is 5 LPA. Institute also promotes student from higher to lower category in case the student has an impressive academic records after joining the institute.

The institute has highly qualified faculty though some of them doesn't meet the mark. More than 50% of the faculties had their PhD’s done. VIT has a student teacher ratio of 20:1. Teachers teach through combined methods using both PPTs and blackboards. Since the internals of the students depend on the faculty, students should be nice with the faculty irrespective of their opinion. Some of the faculty members need to be more students friendly. On the other hand some faculties teach very well, interact with students, and also consider students opinion while giving assignments.

The institute has an impressive placement record. Students have opportunity to get internships right from the 6th semester in top companies like Amazon, Google, etc. Companies like TCS and Infosys are mass recruiters. From the Vellore branch itself there are over 21 students who are selected into Amazon, 10 in Microsoft, 38 in Wells Fargo, and 10 in Google. The students with highest package of the year are selected to MOTORQ with a package of 1 crore per year.

Institute offers hostels for students to stay in. The hostels for boys and girls are separate. For boys there are over 15 blocks of hostels. There are both AC and non AC rooms available. The hostel rooms vary from 2 to 8 beds. Students should return to the hostel before 9 PM in the evening. The food served in the mess will meet the nutritional value required for a human being. There are a number of shops in the hostel premises for students to purchase things which are required by them like books, soaps, etc. There are two medical shops in the campus along with a hospital which is open 24/7.

The academic blocks and institute are little bit old yet they're beautiful. VIT Vellore is a massive 375 acres campus. The campus is situated near to Katpadi railway station. The classrooms are non ac and huge in size which can accommodate up to 70 students. Some blocks which are being built recently have smart classrooms in them. Campus has one of the biggest libraries in India for an institute. There are labs for every course like Microprocessors, Mechanical, Chemical, CSE, etc. There are over 10 auditoriums present in the institute for various purposes. There is one international standard swimming pool, 3 tennis courts, 6 Badminton courts, and 3 football courts in campus.

Campus life is not so bad. Students are not allowed to wear clothes like shorts and sleeveless in the campus. The institute feels a bit crowded due to the high intake. There are lots of clubs for students. These clubs increase the exposure and also enhance their interactive skills. Two fests are conducted by the institute in an academic year. One fest is a technical fest where students from almost every institute all over India come to participate. More than 100 hacathons are conducted during this fest. The second one is my favorite called the ‘Rivera’ which is cultural fest. Famous personalities come in this fest as well.
