Journalism and Mass Communication at VGU Jaipur

Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur. The University relies in outer section of Jaipur, with 6,000 to 8,000 of daily student walk-ins. I'm a student of Journalism and Mass Communication Department, 4th Semester. This university and my department gave me many opportunities I've excelled in. It is not very special than other universities in Jaipur. But the CODE department is something, which gave me very precious experience in regards of field opportunities and made me a workaholic person. Currently, I'm the president of university’s cultural and theatre association. I've achieved milestones in volunteering experiences and a lot more. Honestly university’s Management authority is not top notch but if you know how to hustle, it is best for you.

JMC (Journalism and Mass Communication) is a practical course with 20% of theory in syllabus. If I talk about the practical part, this university is best in providing field connections. As a second year student, I've worked with quiet a lot of organisations and volunteered at many places, to hustle in my field. I was in the organization team of, ‘Amodini International Film Festival’ last year and I worked as an interviewer of celebrities there. In addition to that, university gave me many tours to news channels, radio stations, live news recordings, and many other national & international events. Currently I'm also supervising; IPL's volunteering team this year. So, practically Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur is a hub for opportunities but in theory section VGU needs to improve a bit.

University’s each course fee starts from Rs. 80,000. So, maybe it’s affordable for middle Class families. If not, it also provides student loan policies to each and every entry they get.

Faculties at VGU Jaipur are well educated; teach in the best possible manner of their potentials and helps students as much as they can. There are some strict rules and regulations students must follow while class lectures, but after that each and every faculty is ready to help students. Also, many fresher faculty members are trying to make their careers in their academic fields by gaining experience at the university.

University is good at connections, and its training and placement cell have good records at placing students in reputed and famous companies. The placement of student is also depended on his/her resume and work experience. Average package is 8 LPA to 10 LPA.

I do not reside in university hostel but as much I know, the in campus hostel rooms are not at its best and the food quality also does not hit the right spot. The security of in campus hostel is at its best. Now talking about the outside campus hostels, they give a luxury home experience with good quality food and free transportation services to the college but it differs in the fee structure.

VGU Jaipur’s infrastructure is normal, with basic lecture halls, media labs, studio rooms, and audio visual rooms. Classrooms are air conditioned with a seating capacity of 60-70 students. The campus has all sport grounds, indoor game rooms, student common rooms, student activity center, seminar hall, auditorium, etc. University also has an official partnership with Royal Enfield, so we have a Royal Enfield lab at campus. The only thing university lacks is at swimming pool, but we've demanded it, so hope to see one in upcoming years.

Campus life is full of dilemma and experiences of opportunities. University organises many events, fests, and workshops time to time. As mentioned earlier, it gave me many work opportunities in campus and outside of the campus, so I've experienced many situations in my campus life which have impacted me in both positive and negative manner in my life. I've seen many friendships being built and ended during these events, but what mattered is what we have learned through every experience in the university.
