SRM University Kattankulathur B.Tech Review By Harshit Pawar

I couldn't get into IITs and NITs and after those top private colleges are BITS, VIT and SRM, I was getting VIT Bhopal and SRM KTR main campus so I choose SRM over VIT since it was main campus of SRM. What I recommend is if you have money you can join SRM but no need to take loan and come because it isn't worth to join SRM by taking loan. The classrooms at university building are having ac but in techpark there is no ac. Techpark and ub are the places where classes are conducted for B.Tech CSE students. If you join SRM take CSE only rest branches are not worth.

As per my admission into the college it was 2020 when Covid was at its peak so we didn’t have any exam, we were selected on the basis of our JEE main percentile and 12th and 10th marks. I don't know the minimum eligibility criteria but for me I was having 71 in 12th and 85 in 10th and my JEE percentile was 80 and I got CSE in SRM main campus.

What I can tell you is that in college you have to study on your own faculties are only scrolling up the PPTs. Maths faculties are goods they teach on board rest all subject faculties are only rushing to complete their syllabus. One more bad thing is we have to give 4 exams within a semester CT1, CT2, CT3 and university theory so no time to do any other things you are just preparing for exams all the time .

Yes we have placement cell in our institute and yes it really help students to get job in both service based and product based companies. As you all know our education system is old so what is taught in college won't be asked in placements you have to prepare on your own for placements. College can only bring companies to the campus to hire you and here SRM does its job well by bringing all the well known companies for both internship and placements.

Hostels are ok as per the hostel fees is charged and mess food is also ok. Only problem is by eating for couple of months the same food in mess we get bored. They are 2 sharing and 3 sharing rooms available in hostels and you have a choice between ac and non ac. Non ac ones cost around Rs. 1,30,000 and ac ones around Rs. 2,50,000.

See for the CSE B.Tech one we have 2 building in SRM and techpark both building looks great but UB is far better than techpark as ub has ac classrooms also it has a big library, Also both ub and techpark are near to college hostels. For core branches they are buildings in main campus which is too far from the hostels.

Campus life is good but due to Covid no functions were organized over past 2 years but few months ago they have conducted Aarush and are going to conduct Milan within couple of months. For those who don't know Aarush and Milan are the biggest fest conducted in SRM. Talking about our daily schedule we are having classes from 8 to 5 and 75 % percentage attendance is mandatory but you can have up to 65% and can apply medical after that, but most imp thing is that if your attendance fall below 65 you have to repeat that subject and have to pay extra of Rs. 10,000 fees for detention in that subject.
