SDCH Shimoga is Affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore

My overall experience at SDCH Shimoga is like a rollercoaster ride. There are some ups and some downs in the College. The factors that made me choose this College is the availability of the transport facilities and the patient flow is also good as compared to other options. The teachers also provide practical exposure to the students. My College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore.

I have enrolled in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). The motive behind this is that I have interest in this course and it also provides high paying jobs. From my two years of experience in this field, I can say that I can easily standout in this field because of the handwork I have done. For admission, the students need to qualify NEET with 400+ marks. There is only one exam which is conducted around September or October. The academics prepare us very well for the exams. In third year, we also have to do the internship which enhances our practical skills.

The fee in SDCH Shimoga for my course is Rs. 3,00,000/- per year. It’s the fee for private seat while the Government fee is less. It is around Rs. 86,500/- per year. The students also need to pay Rs. 50,000/- as a transportation fee, lab fee, etc. There is no discount provided by the College but students can avail the scholarship which is provided by the Government.

The faculty members of this College are well educated. They have done Doctorate or Ph.D. Other teachers are MDS graduates and have more than 5 years of experience. The background of the teachers is also good. The teaching methods include PPTs, blackboard, etc. Overall, the faculty members of this College are very friendly and helpful.

The infrastructure of SDCH Shimoga is average. The infrastructure needs more improvement. The auditorium has got a massive upgrade and it becomes everybody’s favorite place in the College. The campus has hospital with 9 departments. There are classrooms with practical halls on third floor. It also has library with all kinds of books and seminar hall for workshops and seminars. The campus also has Football ground, Volleyball court, and canteen.

Overall the campus life so far is good. The campus crowd is average. There are no such clubs but the College organises various extracurricular activities such as health camps, workshops, etc. The activities are conducted every month. It also organise an annual fest every year which held for 1 week. The students need to pay Rs. 800/- to attend the fest. Till now, I made good memories in this College.
