My Candid Views on St. Xavier’s College Kolkata

Overall Rating
My overall experience in St. Xavier College Kolkata is great. There are only few Colleges that offer quality education. The environment here is good and students are engaging and academically great. I chose this College because of its academics and good faculty members. I never felt that I came to the wrong College and especially my department is so good.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Sc (Hons.) because I had interest in Physics from the beginning and for my course, this is a great College. For admission, the students need to pass their class 12th board with good marks. The admission process is not that complicated. The College conducts class test on regular basis. The students can also enroll in different subjects apart from their course.
The fee of my course in this College is affordable. As much as I remember the admission fee is Rs. 40,000/- and the semester fee is Rs. 25,000/-. There is no discounts given by the College but the scholarship is available for the students. I don’t have much idea about the scholarship amount.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members of my department are great and they always help the students. Most of the faculty members have done Ph.D from foreign countries. The teaching methods include blackboards, white boards, projectors, etc. The teachers always solve our doubts whether it is academic related or not. The student to teacher ratio is perfect. Overall, the teachers are very good and helpful.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, St. Xavier’s College Kolkata has placement cell. As far as I know the cell always helps the students if they have any time of query. There are many mentorship programs conducted for the students. Various companies visit our campus for recruitment. I am in my 2nd year right now so I don’t have much idea about the packages offered. I am looking for internships right now.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the College provides separate hostel facilities for both male and female students. The hostel has several rooms. They hostel organises several activities such as hostel shows, Fresher’s, Welcome party, Christmas party, etc. The mess food is hygienic and provides 4 time meal system. The hostel admission fee is around Rs. 30,000/- per year. The hostel rules and timings are very strict. I stayed in the hostel for one year and it was a great experience.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There are two campuses at St. Xavier’s College Kolkata. My campus is located at Park street. The campus is well organised and clean and the locality is also great. The classrooms are well-equipped with AC facilities and many technical classes are there as well. The campus has a great library with all kinds of books, canteen, labs, playground, observatory, security, etc. My favorite thing is in this College is my classroom and labs.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life till now is so fun in all ways. The campus crowd is decent. There are so many clubs and I am also part of two clubs. The College organise various events and fests every year. In winters, it organise Xavotsav which is a very popular fest. My experience in this College is good in terms of activities.

    SXC Kolkata is one of the best Colleges in India for the students who want to pursue UG and PG courses. When I first entered in the College, I was confused between B.Sc Economics and B.Com (Hons.). I chose this College and a year later as an economics sophomore, I can proudly say that I do not regret my decision. I really like this College.     My experience in this College is great. The campus has friendly environment. This College is good in all the aspects such as good faculty, infrastructure, etc. I chose this College because of its great reputation and studying here will give me better experience.     St. Xavier's College is known for its strict academic standards and attendance policies, but what remains unknown is that Xavier's becomes the 6th best Commerce college in India according to the NIRF ranking 2024, because of its infrastructure, culture, academics, discipline and most importantly, the people.     My overall experience in this college has been average. The college consists of two courses BMS and B.Com for commerce students and I am a part of the B.Com program.
