The Faculty Members of SXC Kolkata Use Several Teaching Methods

Overall Rating
I chose this College because of its history and reputation. There is no doubt that it has a good faculty and other facilities but what you cannot ignore is the significance of the name of the College itself. It is over a hundred years old and has a strong base of notable alumni. This College is really good for networking, which is very important as per today’s job market. You can choose SXC Kolkata to join the community of Xaverians across the country. The kind of exposure you'll receive here is worth taking a chance for sure.
 

Academics Rating
The course chosen by me is B. A (Hons.) in English. The syllabus is up to date and it keeps on revised every year. This course has both such as the wisdom that comes from experience as well as contemporary importance. The students don’t need to give any entrance exam. For admission, the students have to score good marks in their class 12th boards. The academics prepare you well for the academic career in English and if not in this then for the corporate world for sure.
The fee of my course in SXC Kolkata is around Rs. 58,000/- per year at the time of admission. The fee needs to be paid in two installments. There are scholarship facilities for students who belong from reserved communities or economically weaker sections.
 

Faculty Rating
In my department, there are eight professors. The faculty is a mix of experienced and inexperienced professors. Most of the professors teach by delivering lectures systematically according to their lecture plans which are provided to us at the beginning of the semester. The professors deliver lectures on the texts however the students are advised to do their own research. The professors help the students in their research work. Some professors use PPTs while others use group discussion as a teaching method. Each professor has their own preferred style of teaching.
 

Placement Rating
The College has an active Placement cell which provides both internships and placements to the students.
 

Hostel Rating
The College has a Catholic style hostel off campus. It is run by members of the Christian community but it is open for all the students. The fee of the hostel is affordable. There is separate space for studying, evening games, etc. Curfew timings are strict and all the students are required to follow it.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is located in the happening area of Park Street so there is a lot to do off campus. The SXC Kolkata is not that huge but the infrastructure is still pretty good. The campus has library which has various kind of books and its fun researching there. The canteen is decent with affordable prices for students. The classrooms on the upper floors have AC facility but the classrooms on the lower floors do not. Overall, the campus is pretty good.
 

Campus Rating
The campus crowd is diverse with the students who belong from the south, northeast, and other parts of the country. It's a nice experience interacting with different kinds of students. There are several societies which you can choose to engage in, be it dance, drama, or debate society. The events are conducted throughout the year. Each department conducts their own fests. Some societies organise fun events in a year. The College conducts a biggest fest called ‘Xavotsav’.

This College is good in all the aspects such as good faculty, infrastructure, etc. I chose this College because of its great reputation and studying here will give me better experience.     St. Xavier's College is known for its strict academic standards and attendance policies, but what remains unknown is that Xavier's becomes the 6th best Commerce college in India according to the NIRF ranking 2024, because of its infrastructure, culture, academics, discipline and most importantly, the people.     My overall experience in this college has been average. The college consists of two courses BMS and B.Com for commerce students and I am a part of the B.Com program.
