There are around 150+ Clubs at the VIT Vellore

I joined VIT Vellore in 2023. I am currently in my third year and I feel it's a good Institute. Of course, there are some restrictions but you will start to live with it after a of couple months. First, the academics and the professors are good. If you will study little bit then also you will be able to score good marks in the exams. The Institute also allows students to sit in the exams even if they have below 75% of attendance. Overall, this Institute does not have strict rules and regulations.

I chose B.Tech in this Institute. The courses here are nice, they are informative as they build your basics but if you really want to stand out. Then you have to be regular in the classes. The admission process is easy and the management will guide you at every process and seniors here are also very helpful. There are a total of three exams conducted in one semester such as two mid-terms called CATs, which have a weightage of 15% each and one final test called FAT which has a weightage of 40%. The remaining 30% weightage depends on quizzes and projects happen in class. The projects are given in this year only which I personally think is a good idea as it helps us to know in depth about the topic and gain hands on experience.

The fee structure of VIT is divided into 5 parts. The fee will be on the basis of the ranks that you have got in the entrance exam. The Institute also provides financial aid to the students who belong from economically week sections. You can also avail the scholarship.

The faculty members of this Institute are good. There are both chill and average teachers. Most of them are approachable and they don't really scold much but some of them are very strict. If you have good relation with the teachers then you don’t have to worry about the marks. The teaching methods include PPTs, etc. They also teach us with the help of books. Overall, the teachers are good.

Yes, there is a placement cell at the Institute. The placements are good. Mostly every student got placed. The companies hire the students on the basis of their skills and CGPA. The cell also conducts regular pre placement talk, placement training, and workshops for the students.

Yes, the Institute provides hostel facilities to the students. There are around 24 hostels in which 18 are for boys and 6 are for girls. All the hostels have different accommodation capacity. The rooms are available in multiple occupancies. The mess is also available and the quality of the food is average. All the students are required to be back at the hostel y 9:00 PM. My experience at the hostel is good and I am enjoying with my friends here.

The campus of VIT Vellore is spread over 372 acres of land which is a quite big area. There is also shuttle service in campus which takes you anywhere in campus for 20 rupees. There are a total of 8 academic blocks in which the most pretty and spacious ones are Pearl Research Park and Mahatma Gandhi block. These are the buildings for Computer Science students and Architecture students respectively. There is also 3 gyms in campus for boys out of which 1 is free and other two are paid. One swimming pool for boys and one for girls. Squash, Pool Table, Table Tennis, Tennis court, Basketball court, Volleyball court and Badminton court is also available for the students. The campus has several other facilities for the students.

Overall, my campus life experience at this Institute is good so far. I am having a lot of fun with my peers and friends. The campus has diverse crowd. I thought it will be hard for me but it was quite easy to adjust. For all the official work people prefer to speak English. There are about 150+ clubs on campus ranging from cultural clubs like Dance club, Music club, Art club, Anchoring club, Drama club, etc. to technical clubs like Codechef club, GDSC club, ADG club, CSI club, and many more. Clubs are a good way to find what interest you the most and also provide exposure. So, you can talk to different people and get to know more about their perspective. The Institute conducts two fests in a year. First one is ‘Gravitas’ which is a technical fest where mostly tech related events like hackathons, workshops, ted talk, takes place which is very interesting. Other than that, we have ‘Riviera’ which is a cultural fest, where singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Armaan Malik, shankar Mahadevan, vijay prakash, etc. are invited to perform. This fest is all about fun and music.
