High Fees with Decent Placements and Great Infrastructure

Overall Rating
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is a private college which takes admission based on boards and JEE Mains result. The average package for CS branch is around 10 lakhs per annum. Talking about the infrastructure, it is very good for computer science students. It has a very huge library; It has around 1000 students in computer science branch in every batch. The average class size is 30 students.
 

Academics Rating
Thapar provides almost all the branches including Computer science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Biotech, Mechanical, Civil etc. The batch size for each year is around 2500. You can take admission in Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology by board exam result or JEE mains result. The cutoff for CS branch is around 95% which is even lower for Punjab students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of Thapar is decent. All of the faculty members are PHD holders. Many of them have studied from Thapar itself. For labs faculty members are the students who are pursuing their PHD from Thapar. Many of the teachers teach well, while others just read the slides. All faculty members are experienced.
 

Placement Rating
Yes TIET Patiala has a placement cell. It provides a decent placement for Computer Science students. But for other branches it’s not that good. Some good companies visit campus like Microsoft, Apple, DE Shaw, Amazon etc. Around 300+ companies visit campus during the entire placement season.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels in Thapar are great. There are around 6 girls’ hostel and 10 boys’ hostel in whole campus. The location of girls’ hostel is close to academic area while boys hostel are a little far way. The mess food is decent. There are different options available like single seater, double seater and triple seater with both AC and Non-AC. Free laundry facility is provided in each hostel. The hostel fees is little high.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The academic block for computer science students is great. Every classroom has Air Conditioner but for other branches it’s just average. Thapar has high tech computer science labs. The library is huge and newly built. The class size is around 100 to 250 students. There are different blocks for every branch.
 

Campus Rating
The campus size of Thapar is around 250 acres. It has around 2500 students in every year. There are different societies in our college which are very active. They organise many events like cultural events, hackathons etc. The annual fest of Thapar is called Saturnalia. It is a 3 day long fest. College also has many good food outlets.
