The Department of management studies, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli is one of the best colleges under the Ministry of HRD to pursue MBA that offers dual specialization in IT consulting or Business Analytics. Established in 1978, it has a very strong academic background, and the alumni are currently working in reputed companies throughout the world. It was also ranked 17th in management by NIRF 2019 and is one of the top Return on investment colleges in India.

The admissions for the MBA course are done with the help of CAT entrance exam followed by group discussion and personal interview in different parts of the country. The management system is good as they address and take care of the student problems regularly from time to time. It is a student driven campus, and the college management is good with active participation among the students. Students with different cultural and academic backgrounds pursue this course in this college as a result of which there is inclusion and diversity within the campus.

I have joined the MBA course in NIT Trichy as it has a decent educational background with experienced lecturers and faculty over the country. With a decent under graduation qualification and a CAT score, you can get a chance to study here. As it has a practical oriented style of teaching, I had made my decision to join here. Also, the qualified industry experts help to influence us with their regular guest lecturers with new and updated from time to time.

The Major specializations include: Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources along with minors: IT Consulting and Business Analytics. This helps to provide a technical MBA exposure that is extremely beneficial for those who are planning to master in the technical field. Apart from the normal course, the college organizes a variety of online and offline workshops that consists of relevant teaching and certifications for the students.

The faculty of the college is very good. P. Sridevi, the HOD of the MBA department teaches Analytics and data science related courses and is also a visiting of IIM Trichy. Apart from that there are prominent faculties in the field of Marketing, Human resource, Finance and operations who are industry focused and are experienced in the field of teaching. Most of them have experience in teaching in reputed IITs and IIMs in the field of management. They are always available to clear our academics related doubts and are good mentors too. In all the fields, the lecturers and the visiting faculties teach the students with relevant day to day real time examples that help to provide a better understanding of the subjects in the most efficient way.

The course has met my expectations and it follows a tri-semester pattern to make the students learn the subjects efficiently. I hope that this way of teaching will be helpful and beneficial for all the students to secure a deserving job in the long run due to the industry oriented approach.

The department has a specific reserved cell for the training and placement that consists of the students and faculties. They try to bring in the best companies and provide placement opportunities in the field of general management, banking, finance, Human resource, business analytics, operations manager, relationship manager, marketing analyst, etc. The top companies that visit the campus during placement are Infosys, TCS, Accenture, Amazon, Indigo, Reserve Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC, HSBC, Tiger Analytics etc.

The highest package is approximately Rs. 13 lacs per annum with a median salary of Rs. 7.9 lacs per annum. The percentage of students placed from the campus is 96% and the rest received job offers outside the campus. It is one of the best colleges for MBA if you are planning to work in IT based companies with a techno-managerial academic background.

There are 7 Boys hostel and 3 girls hostel for the MBA department. They are well maintained and have proper access to drinking water and cleanliness. The boys and the girls hostel are separate and have proper security management. Per year hostel fees is Rs. 57 thousand and there is provisions to make payment on a monthly basis.

Since it is a national level college, it has provisions for both north and south Indian mess with quality and tasty food to relish for. They are made with the help of experienced cook who have been serving the campus over 10 years. Also students have the access to submit their problems and grievances to the management head who takes care of the student hostel problems.

The area of the campus is 800 acres with lush green trees and plantations. The Main building is situated in the middle of the campus and has access to the central library that consists of books, materials and academic sources across the whole world. The classrooms are well spacious with air conditioners and blackboards. The department also consists of an auditorium where all the activities like cultural, academic, workshops, guest lecturers, fests take place.

There are 7 playgrounds inside the campus and has also access to a centralized gym. There is also a swimming pool and departmental store for daily necessities for the students. The hospital is open for 24x7 and provides emergency support to the students inside the campus.

The overall campus life is great with a room for learning new things every day. The clubs and committees provide good opportunities to take part in various creative activities and enables highest form of interaction and participation for the students. Nisadya, the biggest management fest is the most awaited event in NIT Trichy that allows students of different MBA colleges across India to take parts in the events.

Apart from that, there are monthly magazines that keep the student portal active and provides a platform for the students to showcase their talents like creative writing, poster design, photography, etc.
