Staying in Surat and not getting admissions in Engineering college is quite common. Thanks that we have some private universities who get admissions to the students who don’t even deserve. For me engineering is a passion and not getting admission did pissed me off. I saw Parul University full page ad and asked my parents to get me admissible there. The college has a management quota through which any number of students who can pay donations can get the admission. Asking for such a huge fee and plus the donations the college didn’t justified that at all. Keeping attendance compulsory is not the only thing but providing students with some highly qualified teachers and making sure that students are actually learning something is management’s duty. They failed on it big time. I am sorry but they did. In case you are not getting admission anywhere else, you can join this college otherwise please stay away would be my advice.

The facilities are just too good. When I say too good means they better than anywhere else you find. The classrooms are digital, and they make you study via showing slides through projector. This was innovative for me as I have never seen this before. Parul University labs were huge and the kind of equipment’s it had was for me not just new but something that left my mouth wide open. The classes timings were from 11.30 to 5.30 and we used to have a break in between. If this has made you think, then please ignore as the college only had facilities to show, noting other than that.

The academic depends on the faculty and even school teachers would have taught us better than the quality of faculty that was there in the university. The worst that I have ever come across. First of all the students to teacher ratio was pathetic. The teachers used to run tuitions and their focus was on teaching the students who took private tuitions from them. Imagine what they will teach you at the classes. Such a high-level university and they haven’t bothered in taking care of the quality of teachers. This is sheer irresponsible from the University. Also, the number of teachers that were changed in my time during the college should be a record as I have not seen or heard anywhere that attrition rate is so high in professors as well.

This is where the college is lying on its website and the huge ads that they have been publishing. Yes, some companies do visit the campus and a handful students also gets placed but only handful of students. The University on their site claims that they give 100% placement and that the pay package is Rs. 7 lakhs and above is all fake. I will take my example as I had to search for job after the course and trust me it took me a while to get a befitting job. Thus, don’t look at the bogus ads that this college make every now and then.

There are 8 hostels in all including boys’ and girls’ hostel. The University has provided various options like a hotel menu that whether you want room in double occupancy or triple occupancy. Ac rooms or non ac rooms. 3-4 blocks are residential hostels with 9 and 10 people sharing the apartment. There are attached washrooms in all the hostels which they have named Bhawans like Teresa Bhawan, Indira Bhawan, and Sarojini Bhawan. The hostel fees were justified as the facilities were good with clean rooms and different beds and study tables for each student. The hostel had timings but was just for the sake of keeping it. I watched late night movies in theatres while staying in the hostel and apart from warnings there’s nothing that I ever got. Rather than renting an apartment in Vadodara, staying in hostel is a better option as the college is far from city in a small village called Waghodiya.

Spread across 35 acres the campus was huge. There are nearly 20 buildings as each building has 2 departments. 8 hostel buildings, playground, library, and a huge stage that hosted annual events. To justify the hefty fees, they command they have infrastructure in order as the building is new and well maintained. So are the labs and hostel buildings and other areas in the campus. The canteens are great and has good vegetarian mess. This is the only area where college has done really well as other than that the college don’t have numbers to prove.

The life at campus was cool as it was easy going. The studies were easy as we don’t have to worry about the results because we know if we have entered this college, we will pass it by hook or crook. Not just the life at campus but the life beyond that was also quite relaxes as I watched the maximum movies in my lifetime during my college life. Playing sports and participating in college events is how I passed my four years at the campus. Life was just too easy, and I wish every engineering college provides such an easy life to their students.
