Separate Hindustan University Chennai hostel amenities are provided to outstation male and female students. The residences are situated inside and outside the University premises & are commonly referred to as ‘Kasturba’, ‘Orient’, ‘Bethany’, ‘Pluto’, ‘Jupiter’, ‘Susan’, ‘Galaxy’, etc.

At the residential halls of the University, there are a huge number of AC and Non-AC rooms in different occupancies such as twin, triple & quadruple. The hostel rooms are spacious & fully-furnished & contain attached / common washrooms as well.

For 11 months, the Hindustan University hostel fees range from Rs. 97,500/- to Rs. 1,75,000/- (inclusive of room rent, mess, laundry, electricity, and other miscellaneous charges).

It is mandatory for the students who want to stay at the hostels to fill an ‘Application for Hostel Accommodation’ form available at its official website. The allocation of rooms will be solely on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once hostel rooms have been allocated, students can live at their respective hostels after paying stipulated fees.

Following are some of the important Hindustan University hostel rules and regulations:

Roll Call and Curfew Timings

• Female students should come back to their rooms by 06:30 PM (weekdays) and 07:00 PM (weekends). On the other hand, gate closing times for boys’ hostels are 08:00 PM (weekdays) & 08:30 PM (weekends).
• A roll call will be taken by designated in-charges after gate closing times. It is expected from residents to be present in their respective rooms as absence will lead them to face disciplinary actions.

Prohibited Actions & Items

• At the accommodations, inhuman activities such as ragging, bullying, hazing, harassing, etc. are banned.
• Consuming or distributing alcoholic drinks, tobacco products, and narcotic drugs are restricted at the hostels offered by the University.
• Residents are not allowed to keep iron, hot plate, e-kettle, and other electronic devices with an exceeding power consumption of 300 Watts within their rooms.
• Day scholars are prohibited from entering the University’s residences without permission of the respective wardens.
• Students are not permitted to organise parties or meetings unless and until they have secured permission from their wardens and in-charges.

Leave Rules

• In order to go out of the hostels for an outing or an overnight stay, students need to follow the prescribed procedure like seeking permission from the parents / guardians, securing gate pass / entries, etc.
• It is compulsory for students to return back to their accommodations by 5:30 PM during outing days.
• Once in a month, female students can go to meet their relatives and local guardians during weekends after obtaining written approval from their parents.
• Residents who wish to continue living at the University’s accommodations need to fill-in & submit ‘Annual Leave Roaster (ALR)’ form at the hostel office prior to leaving for holidays (after the end of an academic year).

General Rules

• All students should strictly follow study hours. After that, proper decorum and silence needs to be maintained till 08:30 AM.
• Male students cannot enter the girls’ hostels and vice versa.
• Turn-off fans, lights, and other electronic devices before leaving the residential complex.

The University offers state-of the-art gender specific hostels to outstation male and female students. Inside the Hindustan University Campus, there are residences like Kasturba Girls’ Hostel’, Bethany Girls’ Hostel’, ‘Jupiter Boys’ Hostels’, ‘Pluto Girls’ Hostel’, ‘Galaxy Girls’ Hostel’ and ‘Susan Girls’ Hostel’.
