If someone is talking about Delhi University, how can one ignore the aspect of diversity? Miranda House boasts of students from every part of the country and a multitude of cultures- all respected and celebrated. Miranda house is a beautiful college that at the very least will give you life-long friends. It is academically rigorous and not a piece to cake but not unmanageable either. Campus life is a treat- fests, events, seminars, historical walks, etc. One might just encounter a celebrity while running to make it to class on time. The location is the center of all activity and buzzing with students from all disciplines having a variety of hobbies. Your three years here are going to be a delight.

Like most millennial generation, I grew up while watching college-centric movies such as Main Hoon Na, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Wake-up Sid, Yaariyan, etc. These movies had in common (other than the fact that they were all set in a college) because they glorified college life to no extent. Watching them, I felt that college was the most exciting, thrilling, and full-of-life, feel-good experience in life. Academically rigorous, Miranda house’s faculty is thorough. From weekly readings to timely assignments and tests, my professors also include more innovative tasks such as Group presentations. Professors are always encouraged to make classes more and more interactive and student-centric. The curriculum is in tune with the times and engrossing.

The faculty at Miranda's house is a class apart. They are intelligent, hardworking, and sensitive to each student’s needs and requirements. They don’t just teach but also impart valuable life lessons and share their college stories. They always have camaraderie and support their other faculty members as well. To put it simply, the college is as academically rigorous and demanding as it says; one must work hard to keep up with it. They are bit strict in assignments and practical but when it comes to writing, if you write well you get good marks and pass with distinctions. After all, it's DU!

The placement cell of the college is amazing and major brands are being called here like Accenture, Cognizant, Apple, etc.

Well, as Miranda house is strict when it comes to admission, students who score more than 98% only get admitted here. That is the same process that is continued in a hostel, it is strictly taken on a merit basis. The hostel fee is not as much it is affordable. The hostel is very clean but also has strict rules and regulations.

Talking about infrastructure, the red-brick building left much to be desired but with the construction of the new building with projectors and centralised air conditioning, the infrastructure is almost immaculate. Miranda House has a traditional cafeteria serving all types of cuisine as well as Nescafé-most known for its iced tea and spicy Maggi and a Pam Cafe that serves everything continental and little trinkets of food to munch on now and then. As a college Miranda House is a dream come true, there are academic seminars, competitions, quizzes, meets, fests and all kinds of events. The faculty is demanding yet sensitive to students’ needs. The infrastructure is always improving and the library’s collection is absolutely mesmerising. Professors of all departments are always adding new volumes.

However, my most favored part about college is its societies and groups. You name it and we have a society for that. We have environmental societies, NGO societies, yoga clubs, film clubs, internships cell, entrepreneurship club, women’s development cell, research development cell, north-eastern cultural society etc! In fact voting for a mental-health sensitisation society is also being done! Apart from this, each department has their own society and clubs. The history department’s society is called Raahi and the Political science department has its own paper called Vox Populi. There are tons of seminars to attend, weekly meets, brain-storming sessions, discussions on pressing matters, votings for class representatives, gender sensitisation committees etc. Located minutes away from the always-alive Hudson Lane and the extensive market of Kamala Nagar, it is always buzzing with e-rickshaws commuting people from place to place. It isn’t unusual for girls to rush to Rico’s to grab lunch between classes or visit Kamla Nagar for Dolma Aunty’s momos and then run to make it to class on time. Miranda house is always alive, always buzzing with girls wearing stunning outfits-all which seem straight off a runway. Its North campus- someone is always shooting something, some college is always having an event or another. The annual fests at north Campus are a sight to behold with people waiting in lines to get in and top-notch singers performing at one college or another. Campus life is great and thrilling but often watered-down by the ever-looming presence of assignments and tests and finals.
