My college is situated in Nerul, Navi Mumbai and it connected to two main railway stations i.e. Nerul and Juinagar. Hence, it is very convenient to travel. Being a part of one of the largest groups (the D.Y. Patil group), R.A.I.T is one of well-known engineering colleges in Navi Mumbai. When I was studying, R.A.I.T received A - accreditations for the quality of education they provide. It was then a part of Mumbai University whereas due to a prolonged success over the years, R.A.I.T has now bagged the Autonomous college certificate. I feel so proud of my college. But at the same time I feel unfortunate that I couldn’t experience the autonomous accreditation. It’s good for the future generation who’ll take up Engineering in this college. The admission process is quite smooth as it is online process. The college is also well-managed by a huge number of staff because again it comes under the huge DY Patil banner.

I pursued Electronics Engineering which was a four-year course. To be frank, I wasn’t aware of this field before joining the course. But once I joined in, the staff and the teachers here made me quite comfortable in understanding the various subjects which are a part of this stream. Life in an Engineering college is not easy at all with the burden of studies and assignments, but R.A.I.T makes it a little bearable with many extracurricular activities and festivals. One needs to crack JEE for securing a place in this college. One can also get into direct second year of the degree college post a three-year diploma. The benefit of doing this is one gets the liberty of skipping the first year of the degree college (which is a tedious year of the entire Engineering course).

I’ve loved some of my lecturers and professors of my college. I remember one professor with 25 years of teaching experience. She taught us without a book in hand unlike a few teachers. The professors there are not only great at their work but are also kind-hearted. In the course of four years, we had almost become like a family. When my friends and I got good percentile, our professors used to be happy for us. The genuine joy shone bright in their eyes and that’s what brought us close, emotionally. Almost all the professors teaching in R.A.I.T are M.E. Or M.Tech. A few are also PhD holders. They have a sound knowledge of the subject they teach. I loved our Business communication teacher. She was cute and had exemplary command on language. Many teachers are still in contact through Facebook.

The training officer of our college has good relationships with some of the top IT industries. He was the whole and sole when it came to any placements related activity. We were trained by the top training institute who came in the college for around 10 days to prepare us for the interviews. I had a wonderful experience in my training days. The minimum package that students get is 3.25 Lakh which pretty good for a fresher. Nearly 90% students have jobs in their hand before passing out of the college. TCS is the topmost company who comes in first for placements and takes along 300+ students every year.

Engineering college did not have hostel facility so cannot comment on this. But dental college did have a luxurious hostel facility as far as I had heard. But not to worry, there are many affordable PGs, hostels and flats on rent for Engineering students around the college. I had many friends staying in groups in 1RK or 1BHK flats nearby the college campus. It’s almost walking distance also which again saves your travel time and money.

I take pride in telling this that ours was one of the best campuses amongst all Engineering colleges. The main reason being the D.Y. Patil stadium. We’ve got the privilege of sitting in the stadium for free to watch IPL matches. I think that’s the best part of being in R.A.I.T. Besides that the college building is also surrounded by lush green lawns with benches to sit along and chit chat. We had a mini canteen in the open which served the best sandwiches. The main canteen was a bit expensive so we preferred eating outside the college campus. Boys had a great time playing cricket on the ground and anywhere they got place to play. There was never a problem of space. I remember, sitting below a tree and writing my heart out one such afternoon while I waited for my friends on the fresh green grass. The classrooms were fine but one couldn’t sit for the whole day as it would get really hot by afternoon.

R.A.I.T is famous for its massive festivals and EDM nights. The college committee arranged the college fest on a large scale with a budget of few lakh rupees. I’ve seen Neha Kakkar perform live and a few less known celebrities at the college fest. We had received a wonderful farewell party by the college committee which had made us quite emotional. And if you ask me, R.A.I.T has got tremendous talented students which forms a cherry on the cake. We have gone for the Alumni meets which again is a gigantic event hosted by our professors. Students from all the world attend this Alumni meet which again pumps my heart with immense pride.
