Sinhgad College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Deepak Luniwal

Sinhgad College of Engineering Pune, just the name of the college is enough to let you know about the perks of being a student of it. When I took the admission, all of it, about the college was new for me but as the time went everything fell upon its place. The college does not arrange different things for students but does the same things differently. I graduated in Mechanical Engineering in year 2016. All the time when I was studying there, not once did I regret the decision. The college makes you every day worth it for having to get to learn here. Yes, studies and all are more than good but apart from that the college does offer you a lot of things which really makes the difference for students. Every year, as an annual festival, The Sinhgad Kanrandak is arranged as the annual festival.

Academically, the Sinhagad College Vadgaon totally meets the expectations. The college is very strict and disciplined considering the academics and performance of the students. In engineering, one has to study many subjects, the count goes up to 45+, throughout the 4 years of course. But the college has an arrangement that makes sure that no subject is left behind. We are taught every subject with same focus and depth. Missing classes is not the option. The college has strict rules against bunking. Here, we learn under some very great and knowledgeable teachers who pass their legacy of knowledge to every student who is willing to get it. Every student is given fair opportunity to mark the impression in academics, which is really helpful to student’s growth.

Not only engineering, but there are few more courses offered by Sinhgad College like MBBS, MBA, Bachelor of Pharmacy. When I was there, all the faculty staff at the Sinhgad College was pretty good. The numbers are great as well as Mechanical department had nearly 30 faculty including regular and part-time faculty. Not only did they were strict but also very free as a person to talk to. They focused more on theoretical knowledge than the practical. Whatever practical knowledge we used to get, it was limited to practical labs only. The doubts we had about the subject in classroom were all used to be cleared in practical sessions. Most of the professors were new and had few years of experience but they were really good at teaching and explaining concepts.

When you pursue a professional degree like engineering it is expected to get a job and a placement. Our college has been consistently helping students to get placed. The college provides various trainings to students to get recruited by the companies. Mostly companies visiting to campus were from IT sector so there is not much scope for students from core branch like mechanical. There is a good chance for students looking for IT sectors because they get various options. Number recruiters visiting for core branches are comparatively less and thus students from core branches do not get many options. Some of top recruiters visiting campus every year are TCS, Wipro, Infosys etc. The average packages offered are between 3 - 4.5 LPA. The crux of the matter is being a mechanical engineer what can I contribute to the IT sector and the college should do something about it.

While I lived with my family, I used to visit the hostel once or twice a month because some of my friends used to stay in hostel. They allowed the non-hostelites to visit the hostel but that too not more than a couple of hours. I don’t have any idea about the hostel food that much because I never tasted it, but based on what my friends used to tell, it was good. The hostel area used to be cleaned couple of times a week. Students were also advised to keep their room clean. There were some strict rules at the hostel especially for girls. When I used to visit hostel, many times I wished if I could stay there.

The classrooms are big and spacious and also provided with proper ventilation. Practical labs are fully equipped and well maintained. All the instruments and machineries are in working condition. Library is big and has its separate canteen also. Campus has number of canteens and all the canteens are well maintained and hygienic. College has a big sports ground on which all the sports events take place successfully. There is a cultural center in college at which events take place. Auditoriums are big enough and fully equipped to organize functions and events. College also has its gym which is full of equipment and also well maintained. Many students visit there daily. Separate parking area is there in campus and also there are security guards at the gates to maintain discipline.

Sinhgad Vadgaon Campus is fully surrounded by greenery which is being maintained regularly. Various events organized by students allow them to explore themselves. Participating in such events boosts the confidence of students and also builds various qualities in them. Teachers and fellow students are supportive. You find very positive and enthusiastic environment in the campus. Annual events take place at the beginning of every new year. Every year celebrities attend the events at college campus. Some of Bollywood stars and singers have also visited the campus.
