Dayananda Sagar University M.Tech Review By Darshan Patel

I was looking for recommendations after my graduation for a good college and my cousins who all have studied at Dayananda Sagar University asked me to apply there. DSU’s engineering college is one of the best and I am glad I went with my cousin’s choice. There are too many reasons that one should choose this University. First and foremost the infrastructure. The infrastructure is advanced and one can check the University main building images. It looks like a business park. Then the professors as they were some highly skilled persons I have met in my academic career. Then the courses that are offered by the University. Almost all the courses colleges are there under the university and all are under one roof. Hence exchanging ideas and interacting with a student of Ph.D. levels was something. One thing that excited me the most is the DSU University fees. If you compare that with other private universities it is relatively lesser and has the facilities perhaps better than those. Last but not the least it’s the security at the college. No local can show his/her power inside the University as inside the campus all are on the same page.

Academic has helped this University rank among the top. Many students from DSU are today working in the top MNC’s or have started a start-up and all that’s because of the kind of learning that we had at the University. One can call the academic at DSU meticulous as studies went on and on and we were still short. Coping theory and practical’s on time was a huge ask but our great faculty made sure that we are on time if not ahead. They provided notes on a daily basis and DPM (daily practice material) was provided from the University. It was sort of a school kind of thing but studies at DSU are tough as not just the college is advanced but the syllabus too is advanced.

All Ph.D. holders and above all one of the nicest humans for sure. They were mostly busy with their researches but had ample time for us. They looked like they are not aware but every student's progress was closely monitored. They were simply outstanding as we had freedom of speech in the right sense and all our ideas in and outside the class were welcome by our faculty members. At PG level there was no spoon feeding but we were helped wherever we got stuck. I couldn’t have asked for more from my faculty members.

DSU Placement was more or less 100% as we were trained accordingly. The placement session lasted for over a month and the 2 months of summer training helped us hone our skills that will be required at the top level. The internship was added to our CV which was passed by the University to the recruiting companies. We were lined up accordingly and all students got an awesome CTC. All the big IT names were there including some start-ups that showed a lot of interest in students from our batch.

In all, there were 5 hostels all segregated as per the categories. There was an NRI hostel and a separate hostel for PG students and we only stayed with the students doing PG. Dayananda Sagar University Hostels had a common dining area and the food was served from 7 to 8.30. Beyond that, the mess was closed, and had to arrange food on our own as the mess timings were strict. Hostel rooms were great and sharing it with just 1 more student made the hostel life a luxurious one and I had my best time at the hostel.

One can have a long debate as many Bangalore Universities are known for their infrastructure. DSU Campus had the latest facilities and students had access to them as long as they wanted to. Like the indoor games room was opened as long as we wanted to play. The library again had no timing issues as we could use it as and when required. The laboratories were arguably one of the best as the equipment that I saw there were unknown to me till that point. The computer lab had hybrid computers and could only open with a keyword that we were allotted before the classes. There were 3 canteens and were in opposite direction. You head north, you will find a canteen, you head south you will find another and on canteen was actually the mess. The sporting facilities again were world-class as the cricket ground had 3 pitches including the practice wickets. Curators were assigned to take care of the pitches. The infrastructure was unbelievably good.

NRI’s have started coming to India as the universities like DSU have attracted foreigners since their inception. The crowd was not noisy and since the intake has some strict criteria, the quality of the students that we had at the University was so amazing. Not all like-minded people but everyone had some or the other skill. There were many educational and non-educational societies operating at the campus and I was a part of the go-green society. It was fun working with society and the feel of bringing a change motivated us in our studies as well. I had a great time at DSU and I am sure everyone who chose this university will have a blast.
