Overall Life at IIT Roorkee

Overall Rating
The overall environment of the college is amazing. My overall college experience is amazing the peer group here and competition encourages me to work harder along with having fun. The senior junior interaction is good and seniors help us in all way they can. The clubs here also provides us all sort of assistance that we need in our careers.
 

Academics Rating
You have to qualify for JEE MAIN at first. If you qualify the percentile criteria for JEE advanced you get to sit for JEE advanced. In JEE advanced if we get enough rank and cutoff marks is cleared then we can apply for JOSSAA counseling and you fill up choices with your preferences and colleges you might get for the rank you got. After 6 rounds of JOSSAA you get to admission in the college.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is fine. They will give you their best if you want to go deep on the concepts. Overall teaching style is still old school but new professors are there who try to teach in new and better advanced way. They are all Ph.D passed professors from either top colleges of India or top foreign colleges.
 

Placement Rating
We have Placement and Internship cell in our college. It is mostly managed by seniors of the college and is overlooked by faculty in charge. Yes the PIC is very helpful and they provide all sort of support to the students.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels are fine. Of course they are not as good as expensive private colleges but all facilities are there.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college has amazing infrastructure with 2 lecture hall complexes and a lot of auditoriums. There is a multi active center building that has almost most of the clubs of IITR and not only this there are two incubators as well. The new departments are very great looking and have very good facilities along with all modern equipment. The main building is 175 years old but still in good condition.
 

Campus Rating
The institute campus life is also amazing along with a lot of greenery around. The aura around main building is always amazing. The market is just behind the campus which makes it hustle free for us if anything is required. There are numerous clubs for different departments in the college. There are 3 major fests in the campus but overall every month some fests are organised in the college.

    I particularly accepted this college in my first round of JOSAA counselling. The reasons for choosing an IIT are mainly its infrastructure and placement opportunities.     The campus of IIT Roorkee is one of the best campuses in the country with lush green beauty and the iconic James Thomason building of IIT Roorkee is its pride. Almost all type of sports facilities is available in the campus.     Overall Rating
    The institute is amazing with an area of about 350 acres and a large number of facilities and sports. It has a good environment and offers good placement. It is one of the top Institutes in India and is highly recognised. The location of the institute is also good as it is surrounded by spiritual places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and also places to visit like Manali and Shimla.... Read Full Review

  • My Experiences at IIT Roorkee
     

    Overall Rating
    Return of investment in IITs is better than at any other college. If your family income is more than Rs. 5 Lakh then your fee will be Rs. 11 – 12 Lakh overall. If your family income is less than Rs. 1 Lakh then your fee will only be Rs. 4 Lakh because you will get full concession on the tuition fee which is Rs. 8 Lakh. If your family income lies between Rs. 1 – 5 Lakh then your overall fee will only be Rs. 7 Lakh.... Read Full Review

    Overall Rating
    I had two options during my JOSAA Counselling, mechanical engg, one at IIT Guwahati and the other at IIT Roorkee. I got IIT Roorkee in the last round. Honestly, I preferred IIT Roorkee also. Reasons were simple; it’s the oldest engineering college of Asia, proudly celebrating its 175 years of excellence.
