LPU MCA Review By Kuldeep Singh

LPU is one of the largest private universities in North India. The University doesn’t just give impetus to studies but even in my brief stint with the University I have come across many future superstars as every other student at the University aspires to be a singer or model here. Many Punjabi songs are shot here as the University is a perfect location for shooting. It has one of the best infrastructures and the enormous size of the campus makes it even easier. An entrance LPUNEST that was conducted online has to be cleared for the MCA course. A letter of joining came a month after the entrance and it hardly took any convincing as Lovely University is a dream for everyone in North India. I checked the placements and they place the students really well. LPU Fees Structure is quite high and that reflects in the way the University has maintained the infrastructure. Even during such torrid times, the University is as clean as a whistle and you will find 100s of sweepers cleaning the campus daily. One thing that makes Lovely Professional University Jalandhar different than others is networking as students of so many backgrounds and different fields are found on the campus that it will help one expand their network like a spider web.

Market demand is what the course of LPU University has made. Quite unique and impressive. It’s because of the Covid that I had to leave the University campus mid-way and online classes are what we had to deal with. The quality of teaching is the same be it online or at the classes. We are open to ask as many doubts we want and MCA is a tech-savvy course and using the tech-savvy is what will create more jobs in our industry.

Faculty has somewhat led to the downfall of this beautiful University. Most of them are average as they are new in teaching. This is not just the only reason for me rating them low. One of the other factors affecting the teaching is the number of students they take in. If you keep on adding 1000s of students every year, the quality of faculty will be compromised. A class of 100 and a class of 50 is a lot of difference and this one change the University will have to bring in shortly. I am not the only one having this issue as all my batch mates whom I hardly know have a similar issue. However, more than faculty it’s the management's fault.

There is a training and placement cell in operation and every department students are free to approach them. It’s my 1st semester and I have never been there. From what I have learned asking my seniors is that the LPU placement ratio is 50-50. Blue-chip names do come to the campus and students are hired for the roles I am seeking for. I hope I make the cut as placement is the only reason why I have joined LPU. I hope the rate gets better when my placement comes as IT has grown exponentially in Covid.

LPU has a residential complex inside the University. There are around 10-12 hostel buildings and all fully occupied. LPU Hostel rooms are nice and for a double sharing room, the fee is 60k a year which is pretty ok. LPU hostel students have certain advantages over the day scholars. We have access to most of the facilities of the University as long as want. Like the library is opened 24*7 and indoor sports stadium. Using of sporting facilities are chargeable and I hope they give me a refund as I paid fees for that but can’t use them for obvious reasons. There’s a 30-bed hospital at the residential facility and that was a nice initiative by the University. The mess was huge and from what I have heard daily over 50k meals are prepared at the mess hall. The food was average as they lacked variety and gave just radish for salad.

I have not even seen half of it as some of the facilities like the shopping complex and the swimming pools were closed. The library is huge and has a nice stock of books. LPU campus for sure has over 10,000 trees and there are many gardens inside the campus to make sure that your see greenery from every corner of the campus. The campus is a city in a way as over 10000 students study here and to cater their needs there’s a shopping complex, some small shops, and international styled playground are available at the city campus. Besides all this, the campus is quite safe and secure as the security is great. Checking is done randomly and if a student is found carrying drugs at the campus they will be immediately thrown out of the campus. Apartment-style residential blocks and whatnot. The campus is 10 on 10.

The events are the best at LPU. Every now and then we saw some students performing at the grand stage as singing seems to be the only hobby of the young generation in Punjab. I just spent 4 months there and still I miss the campus so much. It’s addictive as interacting with students was so much fun. Haryana and Punjab are the 2 states whose students make the 95% of the crowd. You will see many luxurious cars at the parking as the University attracts all the Richie-riches of the state.
