IIEST Shibpur is India's 2nd oldest Engineering college started in 1856. Alumni association GAABESU is biggest alumni network with more than 25000 active members. It is the first ever IIEST of India. Research opportunities are so great in college and on campus placement is very good. Location of campus is good and easily accessible.

My course is B.Tech in Information Technology and to get into this course you have to secure under 15000 ranks in JEE MAINS examination organised by National Testing Agency (NTA) every year. After securing rank in the JEE- mains enroll for counseling in JOSAA and if college is allotted to you then visit the college for physical verification. My motive for enrolling is this program is I am curious in computer science technologies such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and Data science.

Faculty members are highly skilled and intelligent professors and everyone is passed out from reputed institutes of India and abroad and every faculty member is working on research projects and published lot of scientific papers recognized worldwide. Professors teach theory in class and give assignments, mini projects, viva examination, seminar and presentation to improve skills of students which will help in overall development.

Yes we have placement cell in our institute and it really helps students in getting placement every year. every year a lot of companies visits our campus for on- campus hiring such as Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, Pwc, Accenture, Tata steel, Aditya Birla, Atlassian, Google, and many more.

Yes, there are total of 17 hostels for students, (3- for undergraduate and postgraduate girls), 3 hostels for 1st year UG boys, 3 hostels for 2nd year UG boys, 2 Hostels for 3rd year boys and 5 hostels for final year boys. And 1 hostel for post graduate boys. Hostel mess menu is managed by Student representative of every hostel (Joint Mess Committee Representative). Facilities such as water cooler, fans, electricity, bed, table, chairs, etc. is provided. Final year students get single room and rest has to share with 3 other students.

Infrastructure is old since buildings were constructed in early 60's, there is one main academic building where all classes takes place, and one building which is called SNT ( science and technology building). Campus has two main grounds lords and oval. Basketball court as well as volleyball court is also there. Gymnasium and Swimming pool is also present and open for students. There is Amenities Centre, Slater hall and Institute Hall where events are organised.

Campus life is beautiful. Greenery is filled inside the campus consisting of more than 2610 trees of various kinds. Students from different states and other country such as Oman, Dubai, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Australia, and Nepal take admission every year through DASA. REBECA is IIEST's annual cultural fest which is India’s oldest cultural fest started in 1932. Instruo - is Kolkata's biggest technical fest organised by students of IIEST. Various departments organise their events every year. Impetus, Sphuran, Initium, Metallum, Vaidyutak. Revelation, etc. are departmental fests. IIEST has 19 cubs and societies and these are managed by students.
