IIEST Shibpur Conducts Industry Training Program

Overall Rating
My overall experience in IIEST Shibpur is good. The campus is surrounded by greenery and very clean environment. The major factors which made me choose this Institution is its less fee structure, location which is near to Kolkata city and strong curriculum with strong alumni. The last reason was that it is 2nd oldest Engineering Institution in India which is established in 1856. It does have all types of travelling facilities available.
 

Academics Rating
I have been allotted a seat in the department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in IIEST Shibpur in CSAB round in 2024. To enroll yourself in B.Tech then you need decent score or rank in JEE Main as per your reservation. After getting a seat you need to do a long admission process. Exams routine are one mid, end term exams will be there in every semester. They conduct class tests and assign assignment per semester. The academic curriculum prepares you in industrial oriented way because they focuses mainly on labs and project which is crucial for gaining skills in the subject.
Fee structure of my batch is Rs. 1,15,000/- per year. The students from other than General category as SC / ST or someone with annual income less than Rs. 1,00,000/- have full TFW. GAABESU scholarship is there for students from poor background and Institution also provide loan to them.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties are friendly and co-operative. They are highly qualified and polite. For a group of 4-5 students there will be a mentor. Every teacher use different technique to teach as some use PPTs and some of them use blackboards. They clear doubts and encourage students. They have decent number of teachers in labs and classes. We can easily approach faculty members, if you just ask a question they will try their best to help you.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, they offer placements to the students. It conducts Industrial Training Program in association with Microsoft, Adobe, Meta, and many more. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Texas instruments, Tata group, and many more visits campus for recruitment.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, they provide accommodations to the students. All types of facilities are available in Institution. They have separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 3 hostels for 1st year boys. Each hostel has approximately 50 rooms. Mess food can be improved. Students are not allowed to go out after 11 PM, otherwise outing is allowed before 11 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Every department has its own building. New block is under construction. Every classroom has different sitting capacity and in my department the capacity is 100 students in a room. They have facilities in classrooms like AC. They have seminar halls, 3 Canteen and medical rooms for minor issues like fever, cough and many more. All type of sports and games facilities is available. My favorite place in my Institution is clock tower.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life is good. Students are actively participating in Sports and Events. There are many clubs in the Institution. Every department organise their own fest. They have annual fest named ‘REBECA’ and Techno-Management Fest named ‘Instruo’. They also celebrate festivals like Makar Sankranti, Saraswati pooja, and many more which are engaging for students.

The academic, social life and most importantly being able to make friends from all over India is the thing I liked here.     My experience in IIEST Shibpur is good. It is situated at the centre of Shibpur and very near to Kolkata. Our institute provides good placements and internship opportunities from 2nd year onwards by Google Amazon, Microsoft, and Infosys companies along with more research opportunities and facilities for PG and core branches.     IIEST is second oldest Engineering Institute in India. Alumni network is very strong and campus life is too good. Connectivity is also very good Howrah, Salimar and Sealdah stations are very near to the institute and airport is also less than 10 KM away. Research opportunities are too good and placements are also very nice.
