IIT Roorkee: Worth Taking Admission

Overall Rating
The institute is great and has wide range of opportunities. It is one of oldest engineering institutes in Asia. It is NIRF ranked and it is known for excellent placements and career opportunities. I would recommend that if you are eligible, you should definitely join this institute.
 

Academics Rating
I am pursuing Civil Engineering here. Civil department of IIT Roorkee is oldest and best in the country. The course structure in first semester is same for all the branches. From second semester, branch specific courses start. There are courses like Data Science, AI and ML in our curriculum to make us industry ready.
 

Faculty Rating
There are variety of professors, some old and some new. Old professors tend to use traditional teaching style but younger professors like to incorporate technology. All the professors give assignments and tutorials which carry marks. They are generally nice and willing to help any student in need.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, there is a placement and internship cell. It is really helpful for students. It conducts mock interviews and tests to prepare the students for placement.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, there are many hostels in our campus. Every hostel is gender specific. Visiting rooms of other gender is strictly prohibited but canteens are accessible to everyone. Hostel rooms have basic facilities with a fan and an almirah. Mess food is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Every branch has its own department like Civil, Electrical, etc. Lectures are held at a common lecture hall. Practical classes are held at respective departments. Departments are open and accessible to everyone. There is one central library which has wide variety of books and journals. You can even sit and study in the library.
 

Campus Rating
Campus Life is very vibrant. There are two fests ‘Thomso’ and ‘Cognizance’ that happen twice a year. There are almost all sports to play. There are various dance, singing and art related clubs. You don't need to be an expert to enjoy these club activities. These are generally open for everyone.

    A dream that was instilled in me as a 15-year old finally came to life after 3 years of hard work. After the results, I was very clear about the fact that I wanted to get into one of the top IITs and I am glad that I took admission in this Institute.     IIT Roorkee is India's premier institute for education. My experience is very good. You met people from different background and learn a lot about other's cultures. You appreciate their skills and learn from them. It has slightly easy academic than other IITs that helps you to find time to follow your passion. This thing is different from other IITs.     I feel Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is good and I don't have any disappointing issues with it. I feel like most of the facilities are available in the institute. We have gym, ground, temple, canteens and many more so that we spend our time in learning anything in the institute and also we have a library where it is very peaceful to study.     The campus is a happy place where all people are like you only. Everybody has worked hard to get into their branches. Hence you get along with everyone as they have also faced the same difficulties that you faced during your preparation.
