IIT BHU Varanasi: A Place Where Engineering Meets Life

Overall Rating
IIT BHU Varanasi is located in the vibrant and historic city of Varanasi, with an open campus that seamlessly blends with its surroundings. Spanning over 1,300 acres, it offers a mix of traditional charm and modern facilities. Lush greenery, serene ponds, and majestic peacocks add to the beauty of the campus. Divided into academic, hostel, and residential zones, it provides amenities like sports complexes, libraries, food courts and hangout spots. The open campus fosters both academic excellence and personal growth, creating an ideal environment for holistic development.
 

Academics Rating
At IIT BHU, departments offer flexibility, allowing students to choose open electives and minor subjects from other branches, CGPA plays key role in selecting OE. In 1st year, all students, regardless of their department, are introduced to foundational courses and coding. From 2nd year core subjects related to specializations are introduced. Every department is equipped with best laboratories to ensure hands on learning. IIT BHU is also known for its rare branches like Mining, Metallurgy and Ceramic Engineering providing students with unique opportunities in specialized fields.
 

Faculty Rating
Professors follow a relative grading system, and 75% attendance is mandatory. The professors here are not only excellent teachers but are also distinguished by their vast knowledge and experience in their respective fields. Professors are usually involved in many projects and research initiatives. Students from any department can join these projects based on their interest, professors maintain very simple lifestyle. The students can learn many things from them inside and outside of the classroom.
 

Placement Rating
It has an excellent placement cell, with placements starting from the first day offering packages as high as INR 1.68 CR per annum in 2024. The institute boasts 93% of placements rate for UG students with an average salary of INR 20 LPA. E-cell of IIT BHU helps students introduce startup cutler and to encourage setting their new startups.
 

Hostel Rating
The hostel facilities at IIT BHU are commendable, featuring spacious rooms equipped with large almirah, two tables, two chairs and two beds. The food served follows the Maharaja system and is quite decent, cost about INR 50 per meal. Hostel fees are around INR 15000 per semester, with 24-hours Wi-Fi and purified water available. While the older hostels reflect a rich legacy, newer ones like New Dhanrajgiri, DG2 and Morvi 2 offer enhanced amenities and comfort.
 

Infrastructure Rating
IIT BHU have impressive infrastructure, with air-conditioned classrooms like ABLT. Class LT 1, 2 and 3 can accommodate up to 200 students. The campus showcases rich architecture reminiscent of forts, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the presence of a bank, parks and a temple within the campus adds to the overall experience. Well-equipped laboratories and libraries provide an excellent environment.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at IIT BHU is vibrant, fulfilling and dream of many students. Its open campus, which allows students to explore around Kashi. Late-night case studies and adventurous night-outs add to the excitement. Students gain valuable exposure through various clubs and councils. The best part of collage life is the fest like Spardha, Kashiyatra and Technex, where learning happens with joy, friends and love.

    IIT BHU is currently ranked 10 in NIRF ranking 2024. The college has very good environment for academics and personal development. So many clubs and societies are there to help a student in his / her extracurricular growth. The college has tech clubs like aero modeling, robotics, coding club, and more.     The overall experience at IIT BHU is like dream fulfilling, had a rigorous curriculum, research opportunities and highly educated faculties for the academics. I really like the sports facilities offered by the institute and joyful & memorable experiences at the festivals.
