Sandip University MBA Review By Ketaki Indurkar

I completed my MBA in this college as colleges like Symbiosis Institute of Management, XLRI Jamshedpur, FMS Delhi, and others required skilled people which I guess I lacked. However, I was happy that I stayed at my hometown and did MBA from one of the best colleges of my city. I liked this college because it has a nice educational environment and is affordable. If you look at the fees of B-Schools today an average earning family can’t even imagine. My overall experience has always been nice because all the students are kindly welcomed at the campus. The orientation program at the college was a great way to kick start things which only went high from the time I entered the college till I had a painful exit.

Sandip Institute is well known in Nashik because of its academic potent it has achieved over the years. Case studies we were provided were one of the best and we were free to choose any. There was no compulsion that what professors had asked us to do but we were free to share our views and ideas. I always wanted to know about Jeff Bezos and my case study assignments on that were reviewed by all my professors and they all appreciated my work. Professors are also patient with students and will not leave until all of student’s questions have been answered. I don’t know what IIMs, Symbiosis, or SP Jain’s for that matter teaches because teaching at Sandip was better than many for sure.

Many of the teachers there were knowledgeable but what stood out was their teaching style. Faculties were flexible as one can leave the class on will and they won’t question. You were free to get in a cup of coffee during the class as the colleges functioned in western style of teaching. As many professors of our college were graduated from Kellogg's Business School or Stanford University, they gave us all the freedom. Both professors and management understood the needs of the student and helped them whenever we were in a problem, be it personal or professional. Professors of the college always treated us like a family and I am sure it still is the same.

The placement of my college was average in my time but the many well-known companies visit the college for the interviews and student got the opportunity based on their talent and skills. The overall rate of the placements would be 3.5/5 according to me because I and my batch mates could not get placed due to the college’s poor management. There were many companies that visited the campus but they needed high credentials like our graduation scores, scores that we possessed in three semesters at Sandip and also our internship reports. My profile perhaps didn’t look enticing to the ones who came to hire students. It wasn’t just me who missed out on selection but almost 40% of the students were on the same page like me.

Sandip University has both boys and girls hostels. Boys' hostel buildings are painted red while girls' hostel buildings were painted white. I don’t why they did so because if they had to differentiate or make things easier for understanding, they should have painted the girls' hostel pink. Well Sandip University’s MBA program is not a residential program like many other B-Schools, so I never stayed at the hostel, nor do I know how it looked from inside. All I know is that rooms were nice as my friends used to share pictures and all. One issue that most of my friends staying at the hostel had been with the curfew time. 8.30 pm for girls and for boys it was 10 pm. In 21st century such discriminations don’t work and university should rise above from such primitive thinking.

Infrastructure of Sandip University doesn’t need to any trumpets blowing. One can see the college as the buildings is tip-top. The labs and especially the computer labs were updated regularly with new software and technology. The campus was Wi-Fi and students had access to internet at any corner of the campus. I should move on with the canteen as it was probably one of the sweetest spots in the campus. There again there were blue and green coloured chairs as the blue were for boys and green for girls. If the canteen isn’t full, one was free to sit wherever they want but finding the canteen free was like finding free rides on Ola. Sandip University campus is for sure the best campuses in Nashik and I privilege my time that I spent at that wonderful campus.

Sometimes it felt like a torture as not all departments had a dress code but MBA students had. So again, it was easy to spot the MBA students at the campus because we were in grey suits while other students were flaunting their worn-out jeans. Study wise the campus was adept and for entertainment there were hell lot of things. Thus, because I couldn’t get placed, I shouldn’t be cursing my campus life because I had a lot of fun at the university.
